Meta-Knowledge
( 2. Systematicity and Discreteness
)
As we know, there is a
lot of content about
meta-knowledge.
For example,
the relevance of knowledge, the
instrumentality
of knowledge, and the limitations
of personal
knowledge , all of these have all
been
discussed in my
article, so I will not repeat them.
This article
discusses the systematicity and
discreteness of
knowledge
One of the most
proud performances by a
gang
of pseudo scholars
who always
want
to ruin
our TCM (Traditional Chinese
Medicine)
is to
flaunt the systematic and rigorous
nature
of their
professional knowledge.
At the same
time, they describe a large number
of facts that
our TCM treat many diseases
effectively as
individual cases, legends, and so
on.
And in this
way, they can fragment and
discretize
all the
knowledge about our TCM, and then
say
that the
treatment methods of our TCM are not
systematic,
unreasonable, and so on.
Actually, their
tricks are really pitiful !
Even if the
facts from TCM are scattered knowledge,
is it really
worthless ?
Or let's review
the history of smallpox virus again:
As all of us
know, smallpox was once a highly
contagious
disease that claimed the lives of
hundreds of
millions of people.
At the end of
the 18th century, British doctor
Jenna learned
of a widely accepted
statement
among the dairy
workers and farmers in his area:
Cowpox is
a minor disease of cattle, but it
can
also be transmitted to people. but
i f one
is
infected
with cowpox, he will never
get
smallpox
again.
At that very
time, if such a statement had been
considered as
an unprofessional shouting, at best
just some
worthless discrete knowledge point,
then the
history of smallpox would have had to be
completely
rewritten.
However, Jenner
realized that vaccinating people
with vaccinia
was a safe way to immunize them
against
smallpox if this discrete knowledge
point
said
by the local dairy workers and farmers
were
right
.
So Jenner made
a careful investigation and study
of
this discrete knowledge point.
In 1796, he was
finally convinced that such a
discrete
knowledge point said by dairy
workers
and
farmers were correct, so he decided
to
test it
directly .
In this way,
Doctor Jenner carried out rational
analysis,
scientific experiments, and careful
evaluation of
such a discrete knowledge point .
At last, Jenner
had effectively promoted
the development
of human immunology, and
also
effectively promoted the development
of
medical science
.
In the end,
humans effectively ended the deadly
infectious disease of
smallpox in this way !
It is worth
noting that such a widely accepted
statement among
local dairy workers and
farmers at that
time was at best a discrete
point of
knowledge, and it is commendable
that Dr.
Jenner, as a professional, did not
underestimate
this discrete point of knowledge.
It was his
medical practice spirit that
transformed
this
inconspicuous discrete point of
knowledge
into a miracle
of medical science !
Now look
at that gang of pseudo
scholars around
us, they
always disdain the large number of facts
that our
TCM can treat effectively many diseases
.
In order to
deny the effectiveness and
scientificity
of our TCM
treatment methods, that gang
of
pseudo
scholars try
their most to say many facts
as a few
and then turn a few facts into none .
In other
words, they first describe a large
number
of facts
as scattered cases, and then
deliberately
dishonestly deny
every one !
But from the
history of human resistance against
smallpox, it
can be seen that a certain type of
knowledge
inevitably has a certain discrete
characteristic
when initially recognized, that is,
knowledge may
not always present its
systematicity,
rigor, and immutability from the
beginning
!
And often it is
these less systematic and less
rigorous
discrete knowledge that inspire
people's
problem-solving
ideas, leading to technological
breakthroughs,
application breakthroughs, and
theoretical
breakthroughs.
Ultimately,
these discrete knowledge were
refined
and made an
important component of scientific
theory.
And this
reflects the dialectical unity between the
discreteness
and systematicity of knowledge.
But that gang of pseudo scholars who try
their
most to ruin
our TCM always treat all examples
of effective
treatment of diseases in TCM as
sporadic cases
and discard each case.
They never
consider the effectiveness and
scientific
nature of TCM treatment, ignore the
pain and
helplessness of similar patients,
and
value the
authority of their own limited
knowledge more
important than the patient's
life!
This way of
thinking is a foolish inversion of
the cart before
the horse !
Thus, their
professional level mostly stops at
something
called "Just So So " .
Actually, any
doctor who truly puts patients into
his mind will
cherish any effective treatment
case,
without
distinguishing whether the treatment
case
comes from TCM
or Western medicine, nor will
they
distinguish whether the treatment case comes
from the East
or the West, even if it is just an
So, if someone
thinks his professional knowledge
is very
systematic and rigorous, and uses it as an
right to deny
the constantly emerging large number
of facts, then
he is using professional
knowledge
as a prop to
deceive patients and not responsible
for patients
!
Of
course, it should be admitted that such
pseudo
scholars are very intelligent so
that
they will
not use this method to deal
with
their own
profession, they only use this
method
to
ruin our TCM !
And yet, we
should often remind ourselves that
the
accumulation of knowledge is not
necessarily
linearly
ordered, but is likely to be
disordered,
jump like, or
discretely distributed.
