How to Prepare for Earthquakes(by Qming)

A. 网络课堂

I.  Words

点击Words and Expressions (右上角)

1click and listen to the recording ().

2) repeat the words and study the meaning of them(跟读).

3) note down the words you think difficult or important on your notebook.

II  Text Understanding

返回A: Detailed Reading

1) 1st reading: skim the text very quickly to get the main idea of the passage. Write down the main idea on the Checklist.

2) 2nd reading: Scan the text and find the information suggested on the Checklist.

Click  to get a better understanding or you may click “Translation”(页面右上角) when necessary. And then, complete the table on the checklist.

3) 3rd reading: Read the text carefully once more and study the key words and structure.

a. Key words: Click the words below while reading to see the more detailed explanation and usage(点击单词看链接的用法和解释). Then, go to Vocabulary Task 1(点击后退,然后进入Passage A -- Vocabulary Task 1) and submit your answers online(答案在线提交).

     b. key structure: study carefully the following two sentences from the text then finish the exercise as instructed.

  so that 句型 (Please finish Exercise IX on P156 of the book )

  2. are of equal strength = are equally strong  (be of + adj. + noun = be + adv. + adj.) (Finish Exercise 3 on the checklist.)

III. Fun Time: Watch a video clip about how to survive in an earthquake write something on the basis of the following topic. You may have your own subtitle (副标题).

Topic:  Climate Change

IV. Text Review: Complete the summary on the checklist with the content you’ve learned in Passage A.

V.  Home Work

1. Get ready to role-play tasks as described below:

     One student role-plays a Chinese expert. He/she is supposed to give a speech on earthquake prediction and preparation. The other students act as his/her interpreters and put the speech into English sentence by sentence.

2. Is there anything in the text you don’t understand? Get ready to ask the teacher in next class.

3. Review the new words & expressions and prepare to be checked next class.
