为了进一步拓宽国际视野，加强早期文明之间的比较研究，给现代社会的发展建立一个提供指南的平台，中、英文化遗产保护与中国考古学研究国际中心
（ICCHA）、北京大学考古文博学院、北京大学中国考古学研究中心、伦敦大学考古学院拟举办“早期文明的对话：世界主要文明起源中心的比较”国际学术研讨会。会议得到了“中华文明探源工程”的学术支持和国家地理学会（National
Geographic Society）的赞助。
会议将于2015年4月5—8日在北京大学考古楼A101举行。会议邀请了对两河流域、古埃及、印度河流域、中国、玛雅5个早期文明有深入研究的顶级考古学家（外国学者18人、中国学者13人），分别就“中国考古学界对于早期文明的探索与认识（1985-2015）”、“早期国家的起源与形态”、“文字起源及其作用”、“景观、农业、手工业生产与贸易”、“全球视野下的早期文明比较研究”等五个专题发表最新研究成果。
这是一次有关早期文明研究的最高水平的国际学术会议，衷心欢迎对这个领域有兴趣、有心得的研究者参会交流。
