The Given Tree

N –Narrator（旁白）----张文 

Tree-杨里（满树果实），梅官婷（只剩树桩）

 Kid (小孩:肖均文 中年:张棣杰 老年:钟琛)

道具：一棵树 ，不同年龄段的帽子或服装

N:A long time ago, there was a huge apple tree. A little girl loved to come and lay around it every day. She climbed to the tree top, ate the apples, took a nap under the shadow... She loved the tree and the tree loved to play with her.

N:Time went by... the little girl had grown up and she no longer played around the tree every day. One day, the girl came back to the tree and she looked sad.

Tree: Come and play with me

Girl:I am no longer a kid, I don’t play around trees any more.

    I want toys. I need money to buy them.

Tree:Sorry, but I don’t have money...but you can pick all my apples and sell them. So, you will have money.

N:The girl was so excited. She grabbed all the apples on the tree and left happily. The girl never came back after she picked the apples. The tree was sad.

　　N:　One day, the girl returned and the tree was so excited.

Tree: Come and play with me.

Girl: I don’t have time to play. I have to work for my family. We need a house for shelter. Can you help me?

Tree: Sorry, but I don’t have a house. But you can chop off my branches to build your house

N:So the girl cut all the branches off the tree and left happily. The tree was glad to see her happy but the girl never came back since then. The tree was again lonely and sad.

　　N:　One hot summer day, the girl returned and the tree was delighted.

Tree: Come and play with me!

Girl: I am sad and getting old. I want to go sailing to relax myself. Can you give me a boat?”

Tree: Use my trunk to build your boat. You can sail far away and be happy.

N: So the girl cut the tree trunk to make a boat. She went sailing and never showed up for a long time. The tree was happy, but it was not true.

　　N:Finally, the girl returned after she left for so many years.

Tree: Sorry, my girl. But I don’t have anything for you anymore. No more apples for you...

Girl: “I don’t have teeth to bite.

　　Tree:　No more trunk for you to climb on.

Girl:　I am too old for that now.

Tree:　I really can’t give you anything... the only thing left is my dying roots.( The tree said with tears.)

　　Girl:　I don’t need much now, just a place to rest. I am tired after all these years.

Tree:　Good! Old tree roots is the best place to lean on and rest. Come, Come sit down with me and rest.

N: The girl sat down and the tree was glad and smiled with tears...

　　Children stand around the old tree singing a song:

Like a grain of sad dust,

Nobody seems to know my frailty.

Where's my heart going?

Who is calling me, waiting for me?

（合）Heaven to earth is wide, but it's hard to walk through

I see the world full of frustrations and toil

Get the heaven to know I'll never give up

Let me brave to be myself

Blooming of fading,

I'll still cherish them

画外音：This is a story of everyone. The tree is our parent. when we are young, we love to play with mom and dad……

when we are grown up, we left them…only come to them when we need something or when we are in trouble.

No matter what our parents are and no matter how poor they are  ,they always give us everything and try  to make us happy.

You may think the boy is cruel to the tree but that is how we are treating our parent.

Girls:Dear father,I love you.

Boys:Dear mother,I love you.

Children:Dear teachers,we love you.
