杂谈

Should governments spend more money on improving roads and highways, or should governments spend more money on improving public transportation (buses, trains, subways)? Why? Use specific reasons and details to develop your essay."

Role of the government in development of any country is critical whether the ruling government is democratic or aristocratic. Infrastructure development, improvement of transportation systems, management and facilitation of high quality medical services and educational institutions are few essential functions performed by the government. An elephantine amount of fund is required for improvement in any section and so, it’s vital to prioritize the areas according to the requirement and importance. Improvement of roads seems to have higher priority than development of public transportation systems in the advancement of any country.

Growth of any country is directly linked with the progress of roads and highways. Better connectivity of the roads and highways from central to the extreme part of any country ensures better transportation, facilitating higher export and import of the goods, expansion of industries and chances of relocation for job and education, which subsequently will raise the inflow of money lifting the economy. With the uplift of the economy, a government can invest more in the development of infrastructure and can ensure better job opportunities.

Roads and highways not only help development of a country but also bring the recognition and foreign investment. Development of roads and highways attracts foreign investors to set up industries. With increased investment, the country is recognized worldwide which ensures better relationship with the neighbour as well as distant countries. At one end enhanced relation with neighbours will help in amicable environment at borders, distant countries will seek investment and superior relations.

When I was visiting France, I saw extended and wide roads in extremely well conditions. 300 km journey was barely 2 hour journey which take around 8 hour in remote places of India. No doubt, this considerable amount of time will deter the minds of investors and the places are still underdeveloped. Not to say about the plight of someone in need of medical services. Thus, roads and highways are symbols of the development of any country.

Development of public transportation services is necessary but what is needed first a well connected road and highways system which will contribute in development of any country externally as well as internally.
