What Is Changing About the Test-taking Experience
A New Test-taker Friendly Design Delivers A More Flexible Test-taking Experience
For many students, taking the test that can help pave the way to graduate and business school is a big step. With that in mind, ETS has designed the GRE® revised General Test to be friendlier, more flexible and more focused on the skills you need for graduate and business school.
Now, you'll find new types of questions. More real-life scenarios that mirror the kind of thinking you'll do with graduate-level work. And a friendlier, more flexible test design that gives you the freedom to use more of your own test-taking style and strategies. There’s even an on-screen calculator for help with the Quantitative Reasoning section.*
Here are the changes that give you a better test experience*:
- New preview and review capabilities within a section
- New "mark and review" feature to tag questions, so you can skip and return later
- New ability to change/edit answers within a section
- New on-screen calculator for the Quantitative Reasoning section
- New questions that better reflect the skills you'll need for graduate and business school
- New answer formats, including tasks such as numeric entry and highlighting a sentence in a passage to answer a question
- Less reliance on vocabulary out of context, more emphasis on reading — and no antonyms or analogies
