TMac is back turns into TMac's back
The other day(那天), when Tracy McGrady was speaking of how the headaches had gone away two days after the concussion(振荡) he received from the Dikembe Mutombo elbow(肘), he mentioned a personal goal.
He does not talk about those much anymore. His team goals, he said in October, should remain private. He won't be winning a third scoring title so statistics won't work. But on Monday, when he was ready to return in time for last Tuesday's game against the Cavaliers, he mentioned an individual goal.
"I want to play all 82 (games)," he said.
Moving to Saturday in the Verizon Center locker room that goal seemed gone. He had left the game with back spasms(背伤), looking every bit as damaged as last season. He could not stand up straight. He groaned(呻吟) when he sat and again when he got up.
But he said he was "confident" he would play Tuesday against the Lakers.
With back spasms, you really never know. I had gotten the impression that McGrady truly felt they were behind him, but the back went into spasms again on Saturday. Odd that it happened after consecutive games, and three of four, in which he looked increasingly strong and confident, more athletic willing to call upon his physical gifts.
McGrady looked very much as he did last season as he left the court Saturday. After that, however, he seemed very different.
He was confident, he said, that he would play Tuesday. He spoke easily, smiled once or twice.
Last season, when the spasms came back to haunt(袭击) him, McGrady grew to disconsolate(郁郁寡欢的). Perhaps it's just too early for that. Maybe it was because the pain wasn't as bad. But more than anything, he seemed determined.
Maybe this is just a minor set
back, not to be compared with last season's. But with the back, we
were reminded again, you really never know.

I'M STILL BEHIND T-MAC NO MATTER WHAT.
I think you need to understand tmac has gotten these back spasms quite often in orlando too. i recalled one time in orlando he said he couldn't even get out of bed and stayed in his hotel for a game.
last yr his back problems were due to a bruise (撞伤)primarily to his back that he gotten early in the season and he never let it fully heal. plus, he never got his usual back treatment he usually gets in his offseason.
i think he will be fine. u don't need to fret(焦急). but i understand your point of view based on last season.
but spasms have been a regular in tmac's career. it's not like last yr where it was not just back spasms. it was a bruise.
and tmac has gotten back to his old self. so he's fine. give it a couple of day's rest, stretch it out and he'll be back for Tuesday's game.
You are true Feigen, it will haunt the Rocket fans every night if his spasm is back again. I do hope he will get better because i really want to see Tmac carrying the burden together with Yao and Battier to lead the Rockets to the playoffs. All the best Tmac.
please, for the sake of all rockets fans around houston please let mcgrady be alright, i know yao is great and he can carry us, but we need t-mac. the wiz don't play any defense, teams in the west will eat us up. i say let him sit out a couple of games, don't rush him, we did that last year and we saw what happened. i player will always say he can play, JVG needs to lay the law down, we don't need t-mac for just one or two games, we need him for the whole year. and wells, if your listening, get your butt on the court please, the team needs you.
