高考常用动词固定搭配速记

1. account for 解释；说明原因；占有

How do you account for all the accidents in series? 你怎么解释这接二连三发生的事故呢？

I want you to account for each sum of the money you spent. 我要你说明你所花掉的每一笔钱的用途。

2. accuse sb. of sth. 控告某人某事

He was accused of the car theft. 他被指控犯有汽车盗窃罪。

The lawyer is defending the young man accused of murder. 律师正在为被指控谋杀的年轻人辩护。

3. adapt (oneself) to 使自己适应

adapt to=adjust to适应（新环境）

adapt from根据……改编

adapt something for something改变某事物；以便在不同的情况下运用

Learn to adapt to the society. Only in this way can we survive in it. 学会适应社会。只有这样我们才能在社会上生存。

He was quick to adapt to the new system. 他很快适应了新制度。

You will adapt yourself to the life here soon. 不久你就会适应这里的生活。

The car was adapted for use as a taxi.那辆轿车被改装成了出租车。

4. apply for提出申请

apply to把……应用于

apply oneself to 专心从事；埋头于……

The graduates are applying for jobs now.毕业生正在找工作。

We should apply what we have learned to our practical work.我们应该把所学的知识应用到实际工作中去。

She is always applying herself to the research.

她总是致力于调查研究。

5. abandon oneself to sth.完全屈服于(某种感情或冲动)

Faced with the difficult situation, he abandoned himself to despair。

6. act as 充当，担任

The villager invited acted as a guide for us.这个村民应邀担任我们的向导。

5. act out表演（对话、话剧、故事等）

The teacher asked us to act out the play we had learned.老师让我们表演学过的话剧。

6. act on对……起作用

Alcohol acts on the brain, so drivers are forbidden to drink it when they drive a car. 酒精对大脑有影响，因此司机开车禁止饮酒。

7. act for代理，代表

The Chairman is ill, so I’m asking Mr.Smith to act as for him. 主席病了，所以我请史密斯先生代理。

8. appeal to 呼吁；要求；上诉；有吸引力

The government is appealing to everyone to save water. 政府呼吁人人节约用水。

Does the idea of working for a venture company appeal to you? 你有没有兴趣到合资企业去工作？

9. agree with同意某人的看法，适合

The fact agrees with my original estimate 事实符合我原来的估计。

The climate doesn’t agree with the old. 这种气候对老年人不适宜。

10.agree on/upon 在……方面同意或意见一致

Then on December 5^th, the two countries agreed on the treaty. 这两个国家最终在 12月5日就这一条约达成一致。

11.agree to同意某一建议或安排

Most people didn’t agree to her taking up the job.大多数人不同意她承担这项工作。

12.agree about 关于……意见一致

We never agree about the way to deal with the problem.  关于处理这个问题的方法，我们总是不一致。

13. argue with/against sb. about/on sth.与某人辩论某事

They always argue against us on how to conduct the air pollution. 他们总是与我们辩论如何处理大气污染问题。

14. break down毁掉; 拆除; 瓦解; 崩溃

  The robbers broke the door down. 强盗们把门砸开了。

The peace talks are said to have broken down.  (喻) 据说和谈破裂了。

15. break into闯入，强行进入；突然……起来

The thieves broke into the office and stole some money. 小偷闯入办公室，偷了一些钱。

The car windows broke into pieces when the two cars crashed into each other. 两辆车相撞时车上的窗玻璃破裂成碎片。 

16. break off 断开，折断；停顿，中断

  The back section of the plane had broken off. 飞机尾部脱落了。

  He broke off in the middle of a sentence. 他一句话说了一半就不说了。
