沙坡头地处腾格里沙漠边缘，这里的沙子与三亚天涯海角的沙子一般细腻、柔软，但又没有海滩沙子中夹杂的细碎贝壳，甚至没有一丝尘土，清纯干净得无法想象，在阳光下泛着金灿灿的黄色。最令我们感慨的是，一望无垠的大漠毫无荒芜之感——因为这里流淌着奔流不息的九曲黄河。“黄河之水天上来”，在沙坡头竟婀婀娜娜地流泻出一个“几”字形，使黄灿灿的沙漠中呈现出一片神奇的绿洲。
