情态动词的用法
Can的用法
1.表示能力,意为“能。会”,具体指体力或脑力方面的能力。过去式是could
Tony, can you sing English songs?
He could swim at the age of 10
2.表示允许,意为“可以,能够”可与may互换
Can I play games after dinner? Could I play games after dinner? May I play games after dinner?
Yes, you can. No, can’t. Sorry, you’d better not.
You can/may borrow the book from the library.
3.表示委婉请求对方做某事,用与疑问句中。Can可与could互换。
Could you come to my party? Can you come to my party?
Yes, you can. No, you can’t.
4.表推测,意为“可能”
Mike can’t be a Chinese, for he has blue eyes and blond hair.
May 的用法
1.表示允许,意为“可以,能够”可与can互换。
You may use my book. Here you are.
May I use your eraser? Yes, you can. No, you mustn’t.
2.表推测,意为“可能”
The basketball may be John’s ,because he like playing basketball.
must的用法
1.表示某人“必须”做某事。
Must we finish the group work today? Yes, you must, No, you needn’t , No, you don’t have to.
2.Mustn’t 意为某人“禁止”做某事。
You mustn’t smoke on the train.
You mustn’t talk to others in class.
3.表猜测,意为“一定是”
This book must be John’s, because his name is on the cover.
Have to 的用法
1.表示客观条件限制某人“必须”做某事,must表示主观意识认为“必须”做某事
Grandma is ill and I have to stay at home and look after her.
It’s too late. I think i must go home
2.Don’t have to 意为“没有必要”做某事
Must i work for another hour today?
No,you needn’t //No, you don’t have to. You can go home now.
until的用法
1.当谓语动词是延续性动词时 构成do sth until加时间,意为“做某事一直做到某时”
My father kept working until 12:00 p,m. last night.
I refuse to speak to her again until she says sorry.
2.当谓语动词是非延续动词时 构成not...until 句型,意为“直到某时才做某事”
I didn’t go to bed until my mother came back last night.
You can’t use the phone until we are far from the gas station.
Surprise, surprised 与surprising辨析
Surprise 动词或名词,“使人惊讶”“惊讶”
Mum said she would give me a surprise on my birthday.
To my surprise, the little girl can speak English well.
Surprising 形容词“令人惊讶的”常用来修饰物。
It is surprising that there will be a park near our home.
He told us a surprising story.
The news he told us is really surprising.
Surprised 形容词“感到惊讶”常修饰人。
I was surprised that he got the first place in the match.
Prepare 的用法
Prepare sth。 “准备某事。”
Now my mom is preparing lunch for my family.
The school is a good place for us to prepare ourselves for the future.
Prepare for sth. “为...做准备”
I have an exam next week so i must prepare for it.
Last week i prepared for the driving test.
Prepare to do 准备做某事
I’m prepared to take part in the coming sports meeting.
Preparation 名词“准备”
The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.
