1、本题考查冠词运用,“a whole day” 表示“一整天”,“a quarter of the distance”表示“行程的四分之一”。

53、学生的错误是在于选词不当,文中的“the right ways to express”表示“表达的正确方式”,可以改写为 “ the right ways of expressing”

    54、同学都没有注意“storybook”是一个可数名词,这里需要用到复数形式。

    55、最恰当的表达是“self-confidence”

60、很多同学喜欢选择“allow”,这是明显没有注意到文中的表示是“allow his vocabulary or different knowledge to get used effectively”的完整表达,表格中是“_________ their knowledge effectively”。

A mother, wishing to encourage her son’s progress at the piano, bought tickets to a performance by the great pianist Ignace Paderewski. When the evening arrived, they found their seats near the front of the concert hall and saw the perfect piano waiting on the stage. Soon the mother found a friend to talk to, and she didn’t notice that the boy slipped away (溜走).

At eight o’clock, the lights in the hall became dark, the spotlights (聚光灯) came on, and only then did they notice the boy — up on the piano bench, calmly playing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. His mother was surprised and felt very nervous and sorry. However, before she could call her son back, the master himself appeared on the stage and quickly moved the keyboard.

He spoke very gently to the boy, “Don’t give up. Keep playing.” Leaning over, Paderewski reached down with his left hand and began filling in the bass (低音) part. The banana is popular all over the world. Its three colors tell you how ripe it is. Green means go and find another banana. Yellow means eat me. Brown means eat me but you don’t need to use your teeth to break it up. A banana is neat to eat. When you bite into it, you don’t have to worry about the juice. And it’s a silent food — you can eat it all you like without driving your neighbors crazy with noisy sounds like eating apples or carrots. Finally, it’s easy to cut — you don’t have to use a knife.

You’re never too young or too old to eat bananas. Babies eat mashed (捣碎) bananas before their teeth come through. Great-great-grandparents eat mashed bananas after their teeth came out.

The banana is ready for cooking. You can fry it, bake it or mash it. At lunchtime, you can make a banana sandwich, or eat a bag of dried bananas. You can add a banana to your ice cream for dessert and call it a banana boat.

Here in the US, we get most of our bananas from Ecuador and Costa Rica, although the fruit was reportedly born in Asia. Bananas are a kind of healthy fruit which contain lots of Vitamins A and C. Science studies show that eating bananas can make people feel happy, but doctors advise us to eat them after meals. The price of bananas hasn’t changed much over recent years — it’s still about 65 cents a pound.

In May, a national group of healthcare experts, educators and parents requested that the Federal Communications Commission (美国通信委员会) start the review of BusRadio. This is a radio programming system (系统) that is heard each day on 10,000 school buses in 24 states. More than 1,200 people expressed their opinions on the FCC website during the first month of the review.

Supporters of the programming say it keeps students calm during the busy bus rides. But others complain that the media company forces kids to listen to advertisements. They also say that BusRadio broadcasts music that is sometimes not good for children.

A father wrote on the website that his two sons have had the bus radio for the past year, and they hate it. It’s too loud and makes conversation between the students more difficult, and it plays music they don’t like. They hope their school bus will stop using it.

Michael Yanoff, CEO of BusRadio, stands by the company’s programming. He says that the students, drivers, and headmasters in these areas that use BusRadio enjoy it and that those are the people that really matter, because they have the students’ best interests in mind every day. He considers that lots of the criticism comes from people who have never experienced the program.

Alex Sanchez, spokesperson for the Denver Public Schools, which use BusRadio, said that the schools will wait and see the result of the FCC. He noted that there have been no problems with the radio program and that it has helped to improve safety on buses.

四、任务型阅读(共10小题;每小题1分,满分10分)

Creative writing activities

There are several creative writing activities that can be used to develop creativity in a child's expression. However, the activities may differ depending on the age or grade of the child.

Elementary students are in the stage when creativity is at a natural high. However, at this age, expression needs to be trained. So, the best creative writing activities would be those which would teach the child the right ways to express. This could include regular storybook reading in his daily routine. This will help them think creatively. Another creative writing activity that one could use is, poetry reading and reciting. This teaches the child that creativity can develop the language. An added benefit of these creative writing activities would be the self-confidence of the child.

When the child is in middle school, his creativity goes up a level. At this stage, the best creative writing activities would be the ones that help him bring out what he’s suppressing (抑制) within. He could start writing a journal. Essay writing and report writing on a regular basis in school should work well, too. Not only will these develop his creativity, but also help him understand the phenomena (现象) in his surrounding better.

So, now the child is in high school and the best creative writing activities for him would be journal writing, reading and writing poetry. All these will gain a completely new meaning and motive (动机) in his life. The element here is to make sure that creativity is not the only way of life for the child. The child should be able to think analytically(分析性地) and logically (逻辑上地) as well. So mix up creativity and analytical reasoning, and see the impact. Regular essay writing will make sure that he stays in touch with his creative writing, as well as gives him enough practice to allow his vocabulary or different knowledge to get used effectively.
