基督山是东帝汶首都帝力的标志性景观。基督山下，Areia Brance是海角前面一道宜人的新月形海滩，这里距离耶稣雕像脚下的停车场大约还有1公里。

沿海公路在城市最东端穿过一条小河，并在矗立于Cape Fatucama海角（约7公里）上巨大的耶稣雕像前终止。短短几公里道路修葺得美丽异常，和当地人民的穷困形成了鲜明对比。

Fatucama巨大的耶稣雕像系模仿里约热内卢的救世主耶稣（Christ the Redeemer）雕像而建，是印度尼西亚统治逐渐衰落时期一个备受争议的项目。雕像高27米，象征着当时包括东帝汶在内的印度尼西亚的27个省份。从雕像的顶部，你可以看到绿宝石般的大海被翠绿的山川环抱着，令人叹为观止。爬向雕像顶端的途中你会经过14个洞穴——代表着“受难路上十四站”（Fourteen Stations of the Cross）。

2010年刚结束的统计结果是育龄妇女人均生孩子5.7个，下降了1.7个百分点，政府自然很开心。是不是很好奇为什么这么高的人口出生率东帝汶总人口却只有110万？原因很简单，因为死得多，死得快。死得快是指东帝汶的人均寿命短，其平均寿命不足60岁，全国110万人口中大部分是30岁以下的青年人。死得多在这里特指婴儿死亡率，东帝汶的医疗条件相当简陋，又因产妇几乎都是自然生产，所以婴儿死亡率很高，据统计这个比例大约为44‰。
