她翻译我18首我的诗，成为英文版，同时是她这学期翻译课程的PROJECT，最终完成了。
我们为此通了几次EMAIL，最后，发给了我一本很是精致的PDF电子书。
算是今年收到的最别出心裁的圣诞礼物了吧。
她的认真，和翻译上的精确，令我感动。

18 Poems in Translation

Wu Ang (penname of Chen Yuhong 陳宇紅), among China’s most notable contemporary poets, was born in Fujian Province in 1974. She later attended Shanghai’s prestigious Fudan University, and proceeded to attain a postgraduate degree in contemporary Chinese fiction at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Wu Ang has a self-professed preference for a life relatively unfettered with rigid obligations, and currently divides her time between Beijing, China and Boston, USA, as a freelance reporter, author, columnist and poet. Her poetry is remarkable for its poignant, often quirky, understated expressivity, as well as daringly innovative explorations of challenging —even taboo— topics such as sex, death and the complexity of human relationships.

The selection of poems for this project, while not intended to be systematic or representative of the poet’s entire oeuvre, are drawn from a range of years and present a variety of topics. It should also be mentioned here that the warmth and friendliness on Wu Ang’s part, as demonstrated in email exchanges, has been a great source of motivation throughout this project. Wu Ang has moreover single-handedly transformed the stuffy stereotypes of poets I once had: she’s young, female, blogs, uses (and responds to!) email, and writes untouchily about ‘touchy’ things... I hope the renditions here convey some of the original impact of their originals for you, so that reading them is in an eye-opening experience, as it has been for me to translate them.
