深爱的人爱上别人，这样的故事，一直是艺术永恒的主题。每次听《On
My Own》都会被深深地感动。
这首凄婉动人的曲子是音乐剧《悲惨世界》中的著名唱段。我也是因为先听到了这首歌才对《悲惨世界》的音乐剧产生了兴趣。
音乐剧《悲惨世界》取材于雨果的同名小说。故事情节大家都相当熟悉了。剧中，爱潘妮暗恋着马吕斯，而马吕斯却爱着珂赛特。爱潘妮知道不能和心爱的人在一起，独自一人徘徊在巴黎灰暗的夜色中，令人心碎地唱出了这首感人至深的《On
My Own》。
或许每一个失去至爱的人，都会幻想他能拥抱着自己，在美丽的夜空下看星星；携手漫步在幽静的小路上；或者坐在小餐馆中，互相凝视、微笑......可是这一切终究只是幻想。于是，当唱到“
but I
know”的时候，曲调突然转高，音乐中出现了一种绝望的神情——梦毕竟只是梦，终究会醒。最后，只能无奈地唱到：“I
love him,but only on my own.”
于是，爱潘妮决定回来参加起义，和马吕斯并肩作战——毫无希望的作战，最终，必然的，战死街头。
在雨果的小说中，爱潘妮并不是一个很丰满的人物。但是音乐剧中，却由于这首歌，以及杂临终前与马吕斯的二重唱，成了比珂赛特还要重要的角色。喜欢这样一个敢爱敢恨的女孩，或许正因为这样的个性，才能让她唱出如此动人，如此凄凉而美妙的歌曲吧。
