     1979 年以一首 "Longer" 而引起全球歌迷注目的作曲家、吉他手兼歌手 Dan Fogelberg, 1951 年 8 月 13 日生于美国伊利诺州 (Illinois) 的 Peoria。 十四岁开始学习钢琴, 后来又进一步学习吉他和作曲, 为以后往歌坛发展做准备。为了往歌唱圈发展, Fogelberg 于 1971 年毅然放弃即将到手的伊利诺大学艺术系学士学位, 开始他的歌唱事业, 在民谣界闯出自己的一片天空后,移居加州, 并追随 Van Morrison 到各地参加巡回演唱会。而引起名制作人 Norbert Putnam 的注意, 1973 年与哥伦比亚唱片公司签约, 发行的第一张专辑 "Home Free" 成绩并不理想。随后转加入 Epic 唱片公司，第二张专辑 "Souvenirs" 于 1975 年推出后, 佳评如潮, 不但获得乐评家的赞赏, 也获得商业上的成功, 得到专辑排行第十七名。 单曲 "Part Of The Pain" 得到第三十一名, Dan Fogelberg挤身进入美国知名作曲家兼歌手的行列。
