Have you ever been ill? When you are ill, you must be unhappy because your body becomes hot, and there are pains all over your body. You don’t want to work, you stay in bed, feeling very sad.

Do you get enough sleep? With so much homework ，it's often difficult to get the rest you need. But you need to try，because sleep keeps you healthy and it stops you getting fat.

Recently， a group of US scientists did a study (调查) of kids aged between 8 and 13. The study found that if kids sleep for just one extra (额外的) hour each day, the chance of their getting fat is cut by about 30 percent .

Do teenagers in small villages do chores at home? How about the teenagers in big cities?

O. Henry, a famous American writer of short stories, was born in North Carolina in 1862. O. Henry was a pen name. His real name was William Sydney Porter. When he was a young boy, he did not go to school for long because of being born in a poor family, but he tried to teach himself everything he needed to know.

American and British people both speak English of course. But sometimes there are some important differences between British English and American English.

    First of all, they sound very different. Often, Americans don’t say each word separately. They say words together. Americans may say “I dunno” instead(代替) of “I don’t know”. Or they may say “Whaddya say?” instead of “What did you say?” However, the British are more careful. They usually say all the words and keep them separate.
