ashamed与shameful的区别

　 ashamed 意为“感到羞耻，觉得惭愧，不好意思”表示主语主观认为是可耻的。如：
He was ashamed of being unable to answer the question．他因为不能回答那个问题而感到羞愧。

I was ashamed to tell him that I had failed.我惭愧地将我的失败告诉了他。

习惯用语：

be ashamed of以为...是耻辱
be ashamed of oneself for害羞, 为...而害羞
feel ashamed for sb.替某人感到羞愧
be ashamed to do sth.以干...为耻

shameful 表示事物本身的客观性质是“可耻的”　 如：

To steal money from a blind person is a shameful act．偷盲人的钱是可耻的行为。

They played a shameful role in this farce. 他们在这场闹剧中扮演了可耻的角色。

Such shameful behaviour will certainly ruined his fame (or reputation). 这种可耻的行为必将毁坏他的声望。

It was shameful for women to marry more than once while it was easy for men. 超过一次结婚的妇女被认为是可耻的，可是对男人来说，却很容易。
