    天津水上公园坐落于天津西南原水网（坑洼）地区。1950年建园，占地125公顷（水面积75公顷）。初建时，园内比较简陋，没有像样的建筑和草木，长廊和亭子都是竹子做的，但她已是天津市民最大的休闲场所。

    水上公园由三湖五岛构成（东湖、西湖、南湖；春岛、夏岛、秋岛、冬岛、瀛岛）。

    经过多年的整治，公园环境的水平逐步提升， 2004年已被评为国家AAAA级旅游风景区。特别是经过2009年的大规模景观提升改造，可以说在国内同类休闲公园中，天津水上公园已名列前茅。

    虽然水上公园没有多少历史积淀，但如今她在天津人的心目中已具有崇高地位，是让人流连忘返的旅游休闲的胜地。
