Japan and China are working to set up a 24-hour hotline between
their armed forces to make emergency contact easier, the daily
Yomiuri Shimbun reported in its evening edition on
Monday.
China will
overtake the United States as the world’s biggest emitter of
heat-trapping carbon dioxide (CO2) either this year or next, the
International Energy Agency said on Wednesday.
At least
32 workers were killed when they were engulfed in white-hot molten
steel at a metal factory in Liaoning Province, the government said.
The accident occurred when a 30-ton-capacity ladle sheared off,
throwing the 2,700-degree liquid metal into an adjacent room and
engulfing workers gathered there for a shift change, the State Work
Safety Administration said.
