玉猪龙是红山文化玉器的代表作，这件是已知红山文化玉猪龙中形体较大，形制最规整的一件。白色蛇纹叶岩，肥首大耳，圆睛、吻部前突，口微张，獠牙外露，体蜷曲如环，扁圆厚重，背部有一穿孔。玉猪龙明确出土于墓葬中，而且成对佩戴在墓主人胸前，是社会地位、等级、权力的象征，是按照一定规格制成的原始“礼器”。

玉龟出土于牛河梁第五地点中心大墓，年代距今5500—5000年。两龟呈黄绿色，龟颈微缩，并雕出口、目、四肢和龟足。龟背微弧凸，光素无纹，做工精致。由于形体大小略有差别，故有人认为是雌、雄各一，或有人认为非龟是鳖。在上古时代，龟和鳖是长寿吉祥物，是人们崇拜的神灵，中国早就有了千年龟万年鳖的说法，把玉龟和玉鳖放在死者手中，希望龟神与鳖神在另一个世界里保佑死者。
