For the 1,600th Anniversary of the Tong-wan
City(统万城)
An International Conference to be Held at
Jingbian County, in Shaanxi Province of China,
June 13-16, 2013

In the year
of 413 AD, the leader of T’ie-fo Hsiun-nu( Huns ) named
Helian-bobo(赫连勃勃) who rose abruptly in the chaos of the Sixteen
States period, established a new country named by the title of
“Great Xia Kingdom”, and commanded his peoples to construct the
capital city which was named “Tong-wan”. Time has gone so fast and
now we are stepping into the year of 2013 AD. As one of the
National Key Cultural-relics Protection Units of China, Tong-wan
City will see its 1,600 anniversary. To call attention to the
importance of this famous ruins, Chinese academia and the local
government of Jingbian County decide to organize an international
conference as a commemoration.
Topics of the conference:
Now we
earnestly inform all scholars who have been keeping close attention
to the Ruins of Tong-wan City, and sincerely inviting them to join
this conference. We hope more scholars than expected come to
reconsider and discuss such problems as the ancient culture, the
environment, the tourism resources about this famous ancient ruins,
and support the application job for “Cultural Heritage of the
World”. We encourage scholars from all related disciplines to
submit articles on such fields as follow:
1,
Historical studies of the Tong-wan City;
2,
Archaeological studies of the Tong-wan City;
3,
Historical environment around the Tong-wan City;
4, Targeted
technology and methods about how to protect the Ruins of the
Tong-wan City;
5,
Feasibility and the best solution for the “Cultural Heritage of the
World” application of the Tong-wan City;
6, Design
plans of the tourism program at Jingbian County, even including the
entire north part of the Shaanxi Province (Tong-wan City is always
regarded as the core element).
Schedule of the conference:
June 13 (Thursday): Register at the
reception (from 11am to 11pm).
June 14 (Friday): Field and indoor
investigations ( including the Ruins of Tong-wan City, ancient
cultural relics of the entire Jingbian County, the Danxia landform
scenic spot in Jingbian and some representatives of non-material
cultural heritage in north part of Shaanxi Province).
June 15 (Saturday): Conference of
scholarship.
June 16 (Sunday): The end of the
meeting.
Reception and expense:
The
organizers will arrange the matters of reception, investigation and
hotel for all the delegates and guests. We do not charge for
any fee. We will also afford all delegates’ traffic casts of coming
and returning (not including the casts of international travel; if
you take flight, please choose the planes of Air China when it is
possible).
Requirements for applicants:
We request
each applicant to submit at least 1 article to obtain his (her)
quota as a delegate.
Each article text should have a title and an
abstract, and not have been published at any other place yet. The
organizers encourage the using of tables and figures in the
articles. After the conference, accepted articles will appear in
conference proceedings published by the Commercial Press
(Beijing).
