版权所有 谢绝转摘 同时也把这本英文小说读完了。自问是个不爱看书学习的人。但好书，我可是从来不会错过的哦。话说，这本书还是老公的同事的老婆Marcia推荐给我读的。她是位犹太裔的高中讲师。对中国的历史文化也很感兴趣。两个月前，在她家的一次聚会中，她找出了两本分别由两位居美华裔女作家写的，关于她们在中国的成长过程的小说给我。一本是蒋吉丽Ji-Li Jiang写的《红领巾女孩》Red Scarf
Girl，另一本就是这本马严君玲Adeline Yen Mah写的《中国的灰姑娘》Chinese
Cinderella。Marcia象老师布置功课似的，她很想知道我作为一个来自中国的女孩对此书的读后感。我当时很礼貌地答应了。但两本书在我的沙发边足足地等了我两个月。我一至在忙很多事，但就是没兴趣坐下来读书。而且还是两本英文书，头都大了。心想，怎么也没我的母语看得爽吧？前天，抽起条茎，终于坐下歇歇，顺手拿起了这本“灰姑娘”看。选它，只因它的封面上作者的名字是用中文写的。再看目录也有中文字。前序还向英文读者简单介绍了中国家庭的辈分称呼，数字的中文写法。虽然这我不用她来解释，但它却给了我很好的印象开头。 小说是关于作者的童年。她出生和生活在三十年代中国的一个富裕家庭。却应自己的出生造成生母的死亡，加上后母的不公平待遇，使她成为了中国的灰姑娘。一个没人关心，没人爱的丑小鸭。开始看了几章，感觉也没什么。在那个兵慌马乱的年代，她有书读，有饭吃，应该很幸福了。有多少更惨更悲的故事我都听过呀。 我是抱着有始有终的意志继续看下去的。但当我看到她那为自己的命运而不甘，努力读书，誓要出人头地的精神，深深地打动了我。那时她才5岁呀！第14章，当她描述她被选为班长，而同学们偷偷跟随她回家，想给她个意外惊喜地庆祝时，她的后母无情地给了她两巴，打得她鲜血直流，还叫她去叫她的同学都滚蛋！她拖着鲜血，来到同学面前，无声胜有声。她的痛不仅仅是她流着血的伤口，更痛的应该是她悲愤的心口。这时，我的泪也忍不住乱飚了。 反正是在家，又是我一个人。我还很很地嚎哭了一场。边看边哭，我就是这样断断续续地在两天内把此书给看完了。破纪录呢！我还没试过看英文书看得这么快的呀！看后我还急不可待地给作者写了封email呢。http://byfiles.storage.live.com/y1pGXQc2Pvdtku_lNoyICnhjER0vte3ZmFLf6niRwjsiSYSr2wMGrk1-6U3xt9aTd_lCinderella" TITLE="灰姑娘是由中国出口的吗？Chinese
作者文笔非常简练，词汇简单
，但却描写得啧啧入口。把她心灵的创伤，表达得非常贴切。她也很善于描写自己处身的环境。文章很有层次感。跟着作者的文笔，你会不知不觉地进入到她心灵的深处。感受她在痛苦中挣扎和无助。此书曾被评为最佳青少年读物。有空不防看看哦！特别是那些随父母移民海外，讲着外语，就不再想学中文的孩子。书中有一段是描述她不想学中文，被她爷爷教育说，无论你生活在世界上哪个地方，流利地说着哪国的语言，你的外观总是不会变的，记住你永远是黄皮肤黑眼睛黑头发的中国人，别人也永远是这样看你的。
读完此书，我还学了不少关于那个年代的历史。特别是小说的最后在她阿姨Aunt
Baba给她的信中提到的

Dear Adeline, I have just finished reading your book CHINESE CINDERELLA and could not wait to write you this massage telling you how I feel about the book. I am from China. Even though I am now a Canadian citizen living in the US I am still proud of my homeland. My English is so poor that makes me sometime refuse to read English books except for the good ones. The book was introduced by Marcia who teaching at a high school in LA. She lent me two books to read. One is yours and the other is Red Scarf Girl. She wanted me to read them and tell her my thoughts as a person from China. The two books lay on my couch When I started reading the first couple of chapters, I thought what a lucky girl you were to be born into a rich family. I was also thinking how lucky you were to not have to suffer the war that made China a miserable place to live. My grandparents are the same generation as your parents. They always told me horror stories about starving. However, as I continued to read I began to understand the suffering that you endured as an unwanted child in that rich family. I cannot just use a word “like” to describe how much I LOVE this book. I finished reading it in two days. This is unusual for me since reading in English is a great struggle. I like the way that you wrote your book; it is easy to read and understand. I like the way that you put Chinese characters inside each chapter. I also like the way that you describe the characters and explain Chinese history to readers. Even for me, a person that was born and raised in China learned some Chinese history from your book. I especially like the Chinese vision of the Cinderella story about Ye Xian that was written during the Tang Dynasty. “Perhaps Marco Polo brought her eight hundred years ago from Beijing to Venice.
