   今天我去了一个地方，这个地方是专门提供食物给穷人和无家的人。我是跟我的同学，还有她的“host family"(留学生在美国读书时寄住的家庭）一起去的，她的host family是基督徒，他们的教堂在每周日都会提供这样的服务。
   之前我从来没有做过此类的事情，只是在电视里看到过，所以我是既好奇又兴奋去做这样的事情。我们到那之后， 我们需要摆桌子，椅子，准备一些吃的，喝的，我的任务是为他们提供喝的。我感觉有些紧张，所以在他们来之前，我反复不停的用英文练习“你们想喝点什么，我们有白水，冰柠檬茶和柠檬水。。。。。”
   大约有八十个人过来吃饭，他们中间有黑人，南美人和亚洲人。在这之前，如果我在街上遇到这些流浪者，我肯定会离他们远远的，因为他们又脏又乱，还散发出一股臭味。但是今晚，我却想尽我最大的努力去对他们好。他们中有些人性格怪怪的，但大部分人还是很友好很幽默的。我总是对他们微笑和拥抱他们，就在那一刻，我已经感觉不到我们之间的距离了。我对待他们就像朋友和亲人。当一个中年妇女对我说了很多次“我爱你”时，我感到无比的高兴。
晚饭之后，我们还需要打扫和整理这个房间，虽然感觉有些累，但仍然觉得很兴奋，因为我同样可以从他们的脸上看到快乐的神情，我也可以总听到他们说“你们真好，真体贴。“从这些看来，我今晚的工作完成得还算不错。我很愿意去帮助那些需要帮助的人。
当我经历这件事后，我很想告诉我的朋友们，我们应该懂得满足我们现在的生活，因为在我们的生活中我们已经拥有了太多我们所需要的。这也让我想起了中国的一句老话”知足者长乐。”

英文版：
     Today, I went to a place to serve food and drinks to poor and homeless people. I went there with my friend and her host family.  Her host family are Christans.  Their church does this on every Sunday.
   I have never done this before.  I just saw this kind of thing on TV.  I was very curious and excited to help these people.
   When we got there, we set the tables and chairs, and prepared food and drinks.  My job was to serve drinks to people.  I was a little nervous.  I practiced saying "what would you like to drink, water, ice tea or lemonade?" to myself before the people arrived.
    There were about eighty people who came.  They included black, South American and Asian people.  Normally if I saw these people who are dirty, messy, and smell bad on the street,  I would try to avoid them, but tonight, I just wanted to try my best to treat them nicely. Some people were strange, but most of people were friendly and funny.  I smiled and hugged them.  At that moment,I didn' t feel a great distance between us.  I treated them like friends and family. One lady told me "I love you" many times, that made me very happy.

    After dinner, we cleaned up and organized the room.  Although I felt tired, I still was happy because I could see the happiness in their faces. I could hear them say that we were so nice and so sweet. I knew I did a good job tonight.  I enjoyed  helping people who need help.  I want to tell my friends that we should be satisfied with our lives because we have the things we need in our lives.  Tonight reminded me a of Chinese proverb"知足者长乐“that means if you know satisfaction well, you will be happy forever.
