辽宁省丹东市银杏树栽培历史悠久，树龄在 80年以上的近千株，树龄在30年以上的4000株。东港市孤山镇圣水宫前的“银杏王”全国闻名，这两株雌性的“银杏王”植于唐玄宗年间，距今已有1300年，树高35米，主干三个成人张开双臂合抱才能抱过来。
早在 20世纪30年代初，丹东就把银杏树移植于街路两旁。如今，七经街、六纬路和九纬路三条主要街路两旁的银杏树已是历经沧桑的百年老树。1984年3月，经丹东市第九届人民代表大会第二次会议审议通过，银杏树被正式命名为丹东市市树。
