We
arrived Maimnonides at 8:42pm last night (June5), my son has been
diagnosed with vomiting and diarrhea, also called gastroenteritis and
'the stomach flu." They gave him IV.
One bag of salt fluid, they added medicine to relieve his pain.
Another one has sugar. They kept him in hospital over 6 hours.
(From 8:42pm to 3:18am). He was asked to drink a whole bottle of
designated water, the bottle of water helped to get a clear picture
of his stomach to see if he has got appendicitis or not. He almost
finished the drink at 10:50pm and I told his physician, was told
need to wait 45 minutes to one hour and do a scan of his stomach,
picture can come out very clearly, can tell if he got appendicitis
or not. One hour passed, no one called us, I went to see the
physician, she told me just wait there, and they will called us.
Another hour passed, still not being called, I went back to asked
her again. She told me it’s another department does it, would call
they again. I then wait another half hour, this time she told me
still another two patients in front of my son that need to take the
picture. I stopped asking them any more, just waited till they
called. It’s only took five minutes to do a catscan, but took long
time to wait for chance of getting one. Till 2.59pm I was told that
my son didn’t get appendicitis, no surgery was needed. We just need
to wait for her to fill the paper with medication reconciliation
and was told on the paper that if the symptoms get bad enough or
last long enough may cause serious problem, it’s important to keep
my child hydrated. Try to feed him regular diet and give plenty of
liquids. Do not give him any anti-diarrhea medications unless
prescribed by the doctor.
It’s 15 to 4am when I arrived home; I felt
so tired, took a shower then went to sleep. It will be another day
when I wake up.
