I planned to go China this August, in order to put local mobile
sim card to the current phone I am using, I unlocked the sim
several months ago. But I was not sure how to transferred contacts
from sim to my phone, so I called T-mobile customer service tonight
for help. A lady on the line who instructed me to go menu first and
press contacts, then go to settings, select memory status, press
phone. I did what exactly she told me to do and right after that I
took sim out of my phone, and click name, all the contacts are
shown right away. That made me so happy.
But
the happiness truly does not last long. Soon I found that all my
images and music files are gone. I started being worried. In order
to regain the missed file, I called T-mobile customer service
again. A gentle man asked for my permission to record the
conversation, I agreed. Then he asked me about what I did with the
phone. I told him what I have described above. He then told me it
was impossible to lose the images if I just did contact
transferring from sim to phone like that. He suspected that I
accidentally erased the file but I didn’t. There was only 15
minutes between the first and the second call, how could I delete
over 400 files in such short time? He explained that there is a
feature called Restore factory settings. Let you restore the phone
back to the factory conditions. If I used it, I might lose my file
in the memory. I
confirmed that I didn’t use that function. I told him I just wanted
to recall the memory and hope he could help
me. After that, he
asked me if I have registered an account with t-mobile.com? I said
no, then
he regrettably told me that there’s no way to restore the
data. I asked if this is temporary lost, and files will come back
later? If
so, that would be a miracle,
he said and he asked if
there’s any else he could help me tonight, I told him this is the
main problem I have for tonight…
I was so upset for losing those files. The phone call was over, but
I told myself not to give up finding the data. I shut down and
restart the phone several time, went menu – gallery – memory card,
repeatedly doing that, however, I still couldn’t find what I
wanted. I was
beginning to realize that this thing was serious, and there
was no word could
express the feeling I had. You could read the disappointment
on my face if you were with me at the time. I
told myself not to give up. I tried to connect my phone to
computer, then I saw data storage, I selected it, it started
transferring data, after that I press done. To my
surprise, all my images and music
files came back. I was so happy with this ending and I felt glad
that I never gave up hope to find my file back and I finally got
them back. I told a friend of mine about 28 minutes ago that I was
going to write an on-line journal about this, share my experience
with my online friends and I have done it now.
