I'm sure everyone has heard of the Siuchan Earthquke as most of
the people here are from China. It's been about 10 days since the
earthquake and over 40,000 people have currently been pronounced
dead. Also about 200 rescue
workers died a few days ago because of mudslide
when trying to save people trapped under bricks and stone. It's
hard for the soldiers to rescue the people because of all the
destruction the earthquake caused. There must be billions of
dollars of structuaral damage because of the earthquake, which was
incredibly strong that it was felt for I think 10 different
countries. The power of the earthquake on the Richter Scale is 7.9
which is one of the highest amounts behind 8.0 on a certain scale,
thankfully it was not a 10, which is an advanced
Richter Scale, as it would be like a force of a
small asteroid hitting the country, which would
probably be enough to cause buildings all over the country to be
damaged and buildings in other countries as well. There was 3 days
of mourning in China for the people who died. At
first it was only a little over 10,000 casualties but now over
40,000. The Red Cross has given about over $800,000 U.S. dollars
and over $100,000 U.S. dollars in equipment.
I donated money to the Earthquake Releif Fund last week. There
have been thousands of people donating money to China, from all
different countries.Several websites from major foreign aid
agencies like the Red Cross have been donating
thousands to millions of dollars to help find the survivors and
repair the major destruction. It's a good thing that the Olympics
are being held in China because at least the funds from tourists
coming to view the Olympics will make up for some of the structural
losses, too bad they can't fix the lives ruined by this
disaster.
