Before the turkey is out of the oven and the pumpkin pie is served, more than 30,000 people of Sacramento area residents will run, jog, walk and perhaps even waddle through east Sacramento on Thursday in the 16th annual Run to Feed the Hungry.

   The event has steadily grown over the past 15 years. Last year 28,311 people took part and raised more than $800,000 for the needy.This year could push fundraising to the $1 million goal.
