Taittinger Comtes
de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 1994 Brut
Champagne
in magnum (
1.5L)
Tasted in Feb.,
2013

Limpid straw
gold. Very fine bubbles. Still
vivacious.
Alluring perfume
immediately catches our attention. Layers of
candied, honeyed
fruit, nut, enlivened by racy, pungent mineral
scents. With aeration, more heady aromas of white chocolate and
cheese are revealed.
Viscous, palate-staining
nectar. Smiling, caressing,
with resonant inner perfume.
Compelling concentration &
vinosity, with just right extent
of golden evolution: sour-sweet fruit (more lemon
than plum, luckily...) dusted
with candy, honey, nut, brioche, cheese and white
chocolate. The racy finale of spicy
& saline minerality is sheer
class!
Seamless fusion
of fruit, terroir & magical evolution of
dosage(into perfume
& nectar). Charming,
graceful and still vibrant.
Thoroughly respectable
effort in one of Champagne’s
forgotten, off-years. I
think it's most rewarding
now.
