Grape proportions: 48% Pinot Noir, 52% Chardonnay

Disgorged in 2006 as per back label *

Tasted in April, 2011

Served upon uncorking.

Pale golden robe with reflections of jade. Vigorous effervescence, especially in a central chimney of many fine bubbles.

A real impact right from the beginning!

The complex bouquet is tightly interwoven and penetrating, with notes of fruit confit, acacia honey, roasted almond, smoke and grapefruit.

Confirming the power and depth of the nose, the palate is tightly coiled and supremely focused. Right on power without any heaviness. Thrilling tension wrapped in silky-smooth texture. The pure, vinous finale spells honesty and confidence.

With more time in the glass, DP’s signature toffee tone asserts itself on the nose and the taste, so does the smoky minerality.

One hour after uncorking, a lovely note of decadent Pinot appears on the nose.

Truly impressive one!

On a side note, Johnny commented that a bottle of DP Oenotheque 95 tasted last year, right at the cellar door, was more floral and refreshing…
