启动仪式暨“圆明园国际文化日”

尊敬的各位各位来宾，女士们、先生们，大家上午好！

我们刚刚怀着无比激动的心情，迎来了新中国的六十周年华诞。欣逢盛世，必游故园。今天，我们再聚圆明园遗址，见到的却已不昔日的“万园之园”和“垃圾荒地”的圆明园了，作为一个圆明学人，我真实地见证了，在党和政府及社会各界人士的关怀下，经过几代人的努力，圆明园所发生的翻天覆地的变化，今天，她已基本实现了1980年以国家副主席宋庆龄等1583人的倡议提出的战略目标。

圆明园作为中国最杰出的古典园林，是几千年来的人文历史所凝结出的璀璨硕果，是中华文化的基础架构，更是中国人民赠与世界珍贵的文化遗产。圆明园的建造贯穿了中国古典园林两条特色鲜明的特色：既北方轩宏华美的皇家气派和南方纤柔细腻的士人清谈，南北风华，交融发展。在此，我们要感谢伟大的华夏祖先，他们用充满睿智的手笔不断丰富着心中的奇幻想象，以巧夺天工的营造技艺谱写着一篇篇以园林为节奏的文化乐章，为我们留下了如此绚烂多姿的国家记忆，也是世界记忆。

我今年已经80多岁了，有幸参与过圆明园研究和整修，并主持复建西洋楼景区中黄花阵的工作，每次回想起来，都感到很自豪和光荣。圆明园复兴的千秋大业任重而道远。1860年英法联军带给它毁灭性的灾难，至今仍有大量的文物资料遗失国外，缺乏资料和图纸，缺乏资金和技术，在保护整修的过程中，遇到的困难是可想而知的。今天，让我感到兴奋和欣喜的是，在保护圆明园的行列中，我看到了一批批年轻的面孔，特别是我们的队伍中新增了这么多国际友人，这让我对圆明园的未来充满了信心。我相信，经过我们连续不断的努力，圆明园将越建越好，再次书写她的辉煌，成为世界瞩目的最具价值的独一无二的园林遗址！不仅为中国人民服务，也为世界人民服务，对人类文明与和平做出特殊的贡献。

借此今天的机会，我首先感谢主办方中国圆明园学会和这么多的中国顶尖的学术团体一起组成筹委会共同筹备150周年的活动，也非常感谢国际家睦和平中心的外国友人的积极参与，希望有更多专业人士和研究团体，为保护整修献计献策，经过我们的呼吁会有更多的国际组织机构和有能力的个人可以提供捐助和帮助，期待着从圆明园这座皇家文物的博物馆中流失出去的文物能够尽可能地被收回，这是一个庞大的系统工程，没有足够的资金支持整修和恢复是不行的。

我愿意在有生之年，用全部智慧和精力，和在座的同仁们一起，为中华文化的伟大复兴，为推动人类的和平而鞠躬尽瘁！

Good Morning, Ladies and Gentlemen,

We have just been through the excited celebration for China 60 years anniversary. Today, we gather together in Yuan Ming Yuan. We see a different Yuan Ming Yuan. It’s not the ruin garden anymore. I witnessed the changes and efforts from government and few generations’ contribution. Today, it reached the goal that appealing proposal in 1980 signed by Vice Chairman Song Qingling and other 1583 people.

Yuan Ming Yuan is the most classic garden in China. It is the Chinese culture fruit and also is the precious world culture heritage. Yuan Ming Yuan has two major themes in its architecture design. One is the grand style of northern Chinese culture, and another is the exquisite style of southern Chinese culture. Here, we would praise the wisdom of our ancestor. They use their creativity and wisdom to write a beautiful culture chapter in our history. They left those wonderful memory to us and also memory to world.

I am eighty year old. It is my privilege to participate the Yuan Ming Yuan preservation, research and refitting. I was honored for participating the project of rebuilding the Xi Yang building. When I look back, I always feel so proud and honor. The restoring of Yuan Ming Yuan has long way to go.  The demolishment was done in 1860 by Anglo-French allied force. This destruction make lots of antique and information missed over world. We are lack of draw, information, technology. It was predictable how difficult it is to restore. Today, I am so excited to see there are so many new faces, especially those international friends, who joined in this preservation and restoring team. I believe, after we continues hard working, Yuan Ming Yuan would be better and better. It will have a new glorious chapter. It will be a unique landscape garden and has special value to the world. It not serves to Chinese people but also serve to the world. I believe it has special contribution to harmonious civilization and world peace.

To use the opportunity of today, I would like to thank the organization, China Yuan Ming Yuan Society and so many first class of societies. Thank you for organizing this cemmemoration.As well as, many thanks for Harmony & Unity center and all international friends’ contribution. Hope we could have more contribution from more professionals and research group. We look forward to having more artefact back the homecountry. This is a huge project. We couldn’t make it without enough funds and resources. I would like to use  my knowledge and energy in my rest of life to work with all friends here in order to make contribution for world peace and Chinese culture renaissance.
