辨别：on earth, on the earth 和 in the earth

on earth 有两个意思：1.“在世界上”，相当于in the wold。2.“究竟，到底；一点也，全然”，相当于at all的意思和用法，这时它常用于疑问句，否定词或最高级后加强语气。例如：

Mary couldn't understand what on earth the teacher meant.

玛丽不理解老师说的究竟是什么意思。

on the earth 的意思是“在地球上”，用作地点状语或连系动词be的表语。例如：
