The Bodhisattva Avalokita （觀自在菩薩）

While moving in the deep course of perfect understanding （行深般若波羅密多時）

Shed light on the Five Skandhas and found them equally empty （照見五蘊皆空）

After this penetration, he overcame ill-being （度一切苦厄）

Listen Shariputra（舍利子 ﹣ 佛陀的其中一位弟子）,

form is emptiness and emptiness is form. （色不異空   空不異色）

Form is not other than emptiness, emptiness is not other than form （色即是空   空即是色）

The same is true with feelings, perceptions, mental formations and consciousness. （受想行識   亦復如是）

Listen Shariputra, all Dharmas are marked with emptiness. （舍利子   是諸法空相）

They are neither produced nor destroyed, neither defiled nor immaculate, （不生不滅   不垢不淨 ）

neither increasing nor decreasing.（不增不減）

Therefore in emptiness there is neither form, nor feelings, nor perceptions, nor mental formations,

nor consciousness; （是故空中無色   無受想行識）

No eye, or ear, or nose, or tongue, or body or mind; （無眼耳鼻舌身意）

No form, no sound, no smell, no taste, no touch, no object of mind; （無色聲香味觸法）

No realms of elements (from eyes to mind consciousness); （無眼界  乃至無意識界）

No interdependent origins and no extinction of them (from ignorance to death and decay); （無無明   亦無無明盡， 乃至無老死   亦無老死盡）

No ill-being, no cause of ill-being, no end of ill-being, and no path; （無苦集滅道） 

No understanding and no attainment. （  無智亦無得）

Because there is no attainment, （以無所得故  ）

the Bodhisattva （菩提薩埵）

grounded in perfect understanding. （依般若波羅密多故）

Find no obstacles for their mind. Having no obstacles they overcome fear. （心無罣礙     無罣礙故 無有恐怖）

Liberating themselves forever from illusion, realising perfect nirvana. （遠離顛倒夢想 究竟涅槃）

All Buddhas in the past, present and future, （三世諸佛）

thanks to this perfect understanding, （依般若波羅密多故）

Arrive at full and right universal enlightenment. （得阿耨多羅三藐三菩提）

Therefore one should know that perfect understanding is the highest mantra, （故知般若波羅密多 是大神咒）

The unequalled mantra, the destroyer of ill-being, the incorruptible truth. （是大明咒 是無上咒  是無等等咒 能除一切苦   真實不虛  ）

A mantra of prajnaparamita should therefore be proclaimed: （故說般若波羅密多咒 即說咒曰）

Gate, Gate, Paragate, Parasamgate, Bodhi Svaha （揭諦揭諦   波羅揭諦 波羅僧揭諦   菩提薩婆訶）
