adesso develops service portal for LOTTO Thüringen
Dortmund, 29 September 2011 — LOTTO Thüringen is implementing a new service portal that provides target group-specific information and options for online play for a range of sales channels. The solution was developed by IT service provider adesso on the basis of the in|FOCUS direct customer platform and the FirstSpirit content management system.
The new state agreement on gambling expected to come into effect in 2012 is likely to permit state lottery companies in Germany to once again offer the lottery online. Lotterie-Treuhandgesellschaft mbH Thüringen (LOTTO Thüringen – LTG), based in Suhl, is therefore setting up a new online service portal which will provide customers with information and allow them to play online. It will cover products offered by the Deutsche Lotto- und Totoblock as well as LTG’s own games where relevant. Additionally, the service portal will supply employees of LOTTO Thüringen and at points of acceptance for lottery tickets with information on issues such as the size of winnings and special promotions.
The new platform will be full of specific information for a range of sales channels – the internet, the mobile internet and the intranet. In a later phase of expansion, information terminals at points of acceptance will be set up as a sales channel.
LOTTO Thüringen has commissioned the Dortmund IT service provider adesso AG, which won the contract in an open tendering process, to implement the new service portal. It will be delivered via adesso’s direct customer platform in|FOCUS, which will be integrated into LOTTO Thüringen’s system in addition to the FirstSpirit content management system provided by adesso subsidiary e-Spirit AG. in|FOCUS enables the customer-focused use of all channels which reach direct customers, such as subscriptions, personalised customer cards or payment of winnings. The solution fits in with the existing IT infrastructure and supports the sale of existing and new products as well as a multifunctional range of services. This allows the easy integration of external systems designed to handle dedicated functions such as payment, identity verification and campaign management. FirstSpirit will enable LTG to create, maintain and disseminate target group-specific content, such as various marketing activities for different sales channels.
Both systems have been successfully used by international lottery companies for many years. The number of functions provided by this solution is constantly on the rise, meaning that LOTTO Thüringen can continue to benefit from future developments and enhancements.
The new portal solution is due to go live with the expected coming into effect of the new agreement on gambling in the first quarter of 2012.
“adesso has already gained a great deal of experience in online lottery systems thanks to its many years in the lottery business”, said Jörg Schwäblein, CEO of LOTTO Thüringen. “We can benefit from the expertise that results from this by working together, which puts us in a position to implement our portal with options for online play in a very short space of time and with little preparation time.”

German state lottery selects adesso for online relaunch
With Germany’s new State Treaty on Gaming likely to permit state lottery operators to once again offer their services online from next year, LOTTO Thüringen has selected IT service provider adesso AG to develop an online portal which will allow its customers to play a range of games via the internet.
