World Cup final sets sports lottery record

Taipei, July 12 (CNA) Sales of sports lottery tickets in Taiwan for the 2010 World Cup final between Spain and the Netherlands set a single-game record for the country's sports lottery, Taiwan Sport Lottery Corp. said Monday.

The NT$100 million bet on the game through the sports lottery eclipsed previous marks and brought the total amount bet on the tournament since it began in mid-June to NT$900 million (US$28.13 million) , nine times the value of tickets sold in the same period a year earlier, the company said.

Sales of lottery tickets soared in particular beginning with the quarterfinal round of the 2010 World Cup, which created an unexpected financial boon for the otherwise struggling enterprise.

The company had previously estimated that ticket sales would total NT$600 million by the conclusion of the soccer extravaganza, its expectations likely moderated by the relatively low betting through the Taiwan lottery in the past on international soccer matches compared with baseball and basketball.

But even bets on Major League Baseball games over the past two weeks were lower than those on World Cup soccer, according to the company.

With the World Cup now ended, the sport lottery company urged bettors to place bets on the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, which will be played Tuesday night U.S. time.

Lottery tickets will also be available for the English Premier League, which kicks off in mid-August, and for other professional soccer leagues in Spain (La Liga) , Italy (Serie A) and Germany (Bundesliga), the company said.

Taiwan Sport Lottery, a subsidiary of Fubon Financial Holding Co., is the sole company in Taiwan authorized to operate the sports lottery. It posted actual sales of only NT$19.1 billion in its first year from 2008 to 2009, 56.8 percent of expected sales for the period.

It asked for permission in February to cut by half the revenue it is contracted to give the government, attributing lower-than-expected sales to a delay in launching the lottery, a change made to regulations governing its issuance, and the global financial crisis.

The government has yet to respond to the request.

　　进入到淘汰赛阶段后，竞彩在世界杯竞猜中的优势更为明显，四场1/4决赛比赛就创造了超过1.6亿元的销售额。而荷兰VS西班牙的这场世界杯决赛，吸纳总投注额不会低于亿元，开战之前的7月11日，竞彩单日总销量达到了7443万多元，创下竞彩第二高的日销量纪录，仅次于7月2日的7800万多元。当日竞彩销量除了6万多元出自篮彩之外，有6247万多元由竞彩足球四个基础玩法产生，1190万多元由猜冠军玩法产生，显然绝大多数销量都跟世界杯决赛有关。再算上7月11日之前的销量，这场比赛相关投注额已经超过亿元。

　　单关奖金最高达691元

　　竞彩世界杯的奖金成色同样令全国彩民惊喜。四种玩法中，“比分”的表现最为疯狂，阿根廷大败于德国的“0∶4”，令接近320万注彩票中，仅6294注命中，单注奖金高达691.12元，创下竞彩世界杯单场奖金最高纪录，意味着投注1元可以获得奖金345元多。

　　在世界杯的64场比赛中，“比分”已经四度出现过百的“巨奖”，除了阿根廷VS德国的“0∶4”外，第二位是葡萄牙VS朝鲜开出的“胜其他”，单关浮动奖金为457.9元；第三位是斯洛伐克VS意大利开出的“3∶2”，单关浮动奖金为320.5元；第四位则是德国VS英格兰开出的“4∶1”，单关浮动奖金为 240.1元。
