Sustainable Gaming
Improving the quality of
life of people, providing a great place to work and being a
responsible citizen in the communities have become mandatory
factors of any corporate responsibility policies set up by most of
EL Members. It is known that a business impact is greater than the
services it provides. For Lotteries, sustainable growth depends on
people and strong governance initiatives. This is what our Members
have expressed in their answers to the questionnaire on Sustainable
Growth. By comparing the answers among EL Lotteries, we found that
Corporate Responsibility revolves around five major categories,
working in concert to secure sustainable growth for the
organization:
“提高人们的生活质量，提供更充裕的工作空间，做有责任感的公民”，大部分欧洲彩票协会成员建立的企业责任准则中，这些都是不可或缺的要素。众所周知，事业比它提供的服务本身要重要。对于彩票机构来说，重视人才、拓展创新是可持续增长的不二法则。我们所有的成员单位，已经以充分的实践，给“可持续增长”予全面的诠释。综合比较欧彩协会成员单位的情况，我们认为企业责任包含下面五个主要方面，以此为核心的卓有成效的工作，将能确保企业的可持续发展：
The
People. The first in line are the staff and the
agents who represent the foundation of an organization’s success.
EL Lotteries are dedicated to provide a pleasant work place,
allowing for work convenience with flextime offers and improving
safe work practices. Emphasis is placed on creating a rewarding
environment, sometimes via recognition programs, to celebrate the
achievements of some people who have succeeded in delivering on the
values of the organization, as well as the humanitarian efforts
dispensed by others who reach out to those in need.
A
Diverse World. In today’s global marketplace, an
organization must embrace diversity as it is represented among the
personnel, the agents, the local and international partners and the
customer base. Lotteries are committed to ensuring that everyone
has access to the workforce by offering equal opportunities to all
– minorities, seniors, people with disability and more – and by
giving them the ability to thrive at work and in their life. Some
have even implemented diversity councils that work at ensuring
greater employee awareness and positive perception throughout the
organization.
Community
Involvement. EL Lotteries care about the
communities where they work and they encourage their staff to give
their time and talents to organizations dedicated to improving
communities. Lotteries not only provide financial support to a
number of non-profit institutions benefitting local communities but
also educational and cultural support.
Philanthropic
Approach. EL Lotteries support many local and
national organizations that have a significantly positive impact on
the needs of communities and individuals. By leveraging its
resources, a Lottery helps these social organizations achieve their
goals while enhancing the quality of life as well as the standard
of living within a community. Many good causes are parts of a
Lottery’s commitment to a better community: Education, safety,
health & human services, sports and so
on.
The
Environment. Many Lotteries have established a kind
of responsible watchdog program to control excess, limit waste and
lessen carbon footprint within the organization itself as well as
among its retail network and its suppliers. Conservation is key to
minimizing the environmental impact. Lotteries work with their
suppliers and their agents to understand the environmental impact
of materials in use and goals are set to increase efficiencies and
reduce consumption (fuel, electricity, waste management, recycling,
etc.) Effective environmental management is everyone’s
responsibility: Lotteries, staff, agents, retailers, and suppliers.
Each partner must focus on sourcing environmental solutions to
become a good citizen committed to great service for customers and
communities alike.
Most
EL Lotteries have already made a deep commitment to their
personnel, their players and the communities by setting up
initiatives toward sustainable operations and strong governance.
Others are working at becoming “good citizens” because creating
greater possibilities for people is key to an organization’s
successful future.
