    The Gaming and amusement machine sector represented approximately 0.15% of GDP and 0.15% of total employment (230.1 Millions  230.1/495.2=46.4%)  in the EU27 in 2007.

Definitions

(1) INSTALLED BASE - Total number of gaming machines*, including those in bars, arcades, cafes, clubs, bingo halls.
(2) GROSS GAMING REVENUE (GGR) - The total amount of money left in the machine after the prizes are paid,
before any tax or duty.
(3) DIRECT EMPLOYMENT— The number of permanent jobs, including games design, manufacturing and operation.

*Gaming Machines are machines or devices installed in public places (outside casinos) paying out cash prizes. These do not include redemption machines, cranes or similar devices not paying cash prizes.
