The first thing we needed to do after got up in the morning was moving. The campsite for tonight was only a few sites away, facing right to the Rock Lake. So the moving was very easy.
DH was busy setting up a tarp, and I cooked breakfast. After we got everything moved over, it started raining. So we had breakfast under the tarp with the view of a misty Rock Lake, and some brave souls paddling in the rain. It was a relaxing and peaceful breakfast. We weren't in any rush, just waiting for the rain to stop so we could start our activity.

It's a surprise that we didn't get sore arms after all the paddling yesterday. I wasn't even feeling tired, and still in high spirit to hit the water again.
At 12:00 sharp, the canoe/kayak delivery truck pulled over on the beach right in front of our site. This is another benefit of booking a lake view site. The rain stopped, Just on time.
We rented a kayak for the last two days. General impression with kayak was that they were light and fast and easy to maneuver. But this one was unexpectedly heavy, so we decided we would take it easy today and skip the portage part.
Packed lunch, we headed out to explore the Rock lake. It's a beautiful lake with several rocky islands. We turned right at the start because it looked like a marsh/pond. It was, but nor far before the water path ended/blocked and we had to turn around. Marsh/ponds are always more interesting and exciting than lakes. Never had enough of them.My-First-Canoe-Trip–Algonquin-Park-Day-3

Crossing a beaver dam. We crossed a couple of beaver dams yesterday in the Vanishing Pond where we had to get off the canoe to drag it over. But these two beaver dams were easy ones and we were able to get over by pushing our paddles to whatever available to give the support and moving our bodies/bums forward in synchronizing movements. It was fun.

All the way paddling south, we came to the trail leading to Pen Lake. I would have liked to portage to Pen lake if the kayak wasn't deadly heavy and awkward to carry. My-First-Canoe-Trip–Algonquin-Park-Day-3
A typical Rocky island at Rock Lake
We left our kayak by the water and hiked the 375m trail. It's a nice trail with boardwalks at muddy spots. The trail was parallel to a dam. A short muddy trail lead to the dam with a waterfall. My-First-Canoe-Trip–Algonquin-Park-Day-3My-First-Canoe-Trip–Algonquin-Park-Day-3
The dam and waterfall where canoeists need to portage to avoid them, and my cute pics.My-First-Canoe-Trip–Algonquin-Park-Day-3My-First-Canoe-Trip–Algonquin-Park-Day-3
The sky was clear now and Pen Lake looked pretty
Had our lunch of peanut butter bagel by the canoe, we started heading back. It's a leisure day. We came back to cook dinner before 7pm. This was his ideal day, not mine. Normally I would make everyday a full big day on trips. you are just wasting your time if you don't, right?
That's it for today.
