Tony was 170cm and 46kg a year ago.
He is 175cm and 51kg now.

He could have grown more, both height and weight, if he was a bit more active physically. But this isn't much of my concern, his weight and height. My concern is on his overall health and life style and habit.
Tony spends about 5 minutes outdoor everyday. I'm not kidding. That's when he walks home from the bus stop, and that's all, and all his exercise. He spends rest of the daytime sitting, either at class or at home in front of the computer. He has about 7 hours sleep average everyday. I would go crazy if it was two years ago. That's when he had 10 hours sleep. But I'm OK now with his 7 hours sleep. It can be worse. When he has assignment due or exams coming, he doesn't sleep much. He doesn't sleep early even if there isn't homework the day. He said his friends were still online when he went to sleep. I guess this is part of the reason of his staying late. Peer pressure.

He says he is not tired or sleepy. He is. He just doesn't feel it. He cannot get up in the morning, so skipping breakfast is the result. When I talk to teenagers' moms, they all say their teenagers, boys or girls, don't sleep much and don't eat breakfast either. I feel a bit better. What's wrong with these kids. I never skip breakfast when I was a teenager. Now I think getting these kids in school residence, not the Canadian way, Chinese way, is a better choice. They have to be on schedule the school sets. They probably have to get up early and run along the running track. I would like to have Tony to do that.

Sometimes, occasionally, we can get Tony out to have a night walk with us, about 20 minutes. That's the time he tells about his school stuff. And we get a chance to show how we are interested in his school stuff and his life. At home, he is always on his computer and with headphones on. And we don't communicate.  These 20 minutes walks are very precious. But these occasions are getting fewer and fewer. I cannot complain. Not many teenagers take walks with their parents. He doesn't like it, but he tries. He is doing good. Two or three years ago, we were able to get him out to hike with us sometimes, though we had to push hard, but not anymore. No more hiking with us.

Tony hates it when I say "when you were five", or "if you were five". Then I knew I cannot live with the imagination of him being five. I guess it's hard for any mom with only one child to let go of her baby growing up. That's why one-child policy is not reasonable, one of the reasons.

And you see Tony is no longer the focus of my blog. He refuses to be my focus. So I don't have much to write about him.
