EI

Living on EI is not a bad thing,
especially when you are not the main bread maker of the house, and
it's summer! I secretly am a bit proud of being able to collect it
actually. After the slight confusion, disorientation and panic of
the first two weeks, I got my sense back of enjoying it, my free
time.
I had a clear plan of what to do when I was expecting my not-know-how-long break. On my plan list? Some for fun. Some to update my skills. Exercise too, of course. All practical. I'm not strictly sticking to all of them, of course. You wouldn't expect people to learn and study when they finally earned a break, right? But I'm pretty happy with what's going on now. Slow down, and enjoy lots of outdoor time. The red cardinals usually fly in pairs. Doesn't it look like something in Rio when the couple fly over gracefully? They sing in such a special way, and every time you have to stop and look up to see where they perch in the trees. Peony is everywhere. Never notice we have so many of them here in Toronto. They are in peak bloom right now. Snow white, pink, purple, red. Large flowers open so full, just like what you see on Chinese paintings.
Read several books. War stories can be written in such interesting way. Why I wait till now to touch this genre of reading? You would be surprised how little I've read as a person considering myself a book lover. But it's never too late. Ready? Set. Go! Here I'm on the right track with the crowds of readers, reading, reading, reading.
Is watching movies or TV shows your guilty pleasure? At least for many women I bet. What a happy and exciting time when the house is finally clear, and they have to go to work, go to school, but you get a few days or maybe only a few hours for yourself and can curl up and watch something, just for
fun, just for fun. Leave the dishes, leave the laundry, leave
whatever you are supposed to do. A bit guilty. But that's the
point. That's the charm. You think, when I got time, I would watch
all of these, all of them. But you wouldn't. It's not so fun when
you know you can watch them all day and every day. It feels empty.
So I didn't watch much as I've planned. They don't seem so
interesting now anyway. But I need to watch some to at least get
something to talk about at work.
The most exciting thing is Yoga. I'm doing it everyday now. And it does not seem hard and boring at all now. I actually enjoy it, a lot.
I've planned to learn new songs, but failed to do so entirely. Let it go. Maybe not the right time yet. I'm not a music person anyway.
Oh, yes, doing some volunteer work, all about cataloguing. Counts as keeping or updating job skills. Cannot I? So less guilty. It's fun, interesting. Don't know why most people don't like it. The Edward Garden library is especially fun. Think you work in a garden, a beautiful garden. I've taken lots of photos there. I cannot help it. I will post the photos here.
I've determined to enjoy every day, every hour of my break. Who knows when they will take your vacation away and you get back to the busy indoor life and will miss this free time for sure.
