When it comes to history learning, people hold divergent views. Some people argue that it is unnecessary to include history as part of school curriculum   However, others believe that acquiring life-related subjects enjoys more superiorities. From my perspective, it is of immense value for everyone to invest some time in the study of history.

Indeed, those who argue against studying history do have their reasons to a certain extent. According to them, to acquire history is neither easy nor pragmatic. They might believe that compared with those competitive subjects, such as business or computer, history is of little value, because those who major in history will prove to be less competitive in the future job-seeking. Still, one’s time and energy are limited. The learning of history will delay and disadvantage the study of major courses.

Yet, in my opinion, the studies of history do have certain benefits to the students. First, by means of history study, one can not only draw lessons from the our ancestors thus have a deeper insight into the present situation but also foster one’s rational thinking, analytical thinking and critical thinking. Also, history could strengthen one’s cultural deposits, enlarge one’s knowledge, and broaden one’s horizons, Take me as an example, I take great interest in history learning, for it builds my confidence and could help me make sound judgment. Eventually, many great-achievers such as business leaders or man of letters are all interested in history. Although history might fail to enhance their competitiveness after graduation, the spiritual nutrition drawn from history could benefit their lives and careers in the long run.
