支持的意见：

①实际上，任由少数民族语言消亡是对人类文明的践踏，是对少数民族使用语言权利的公然侵犯：In fact, allowing the minority language to go with the wind is an abuse of human civilization and an obvious violation of the basic right of language of the lesser known groups.

②悠久的传统和文化的精髓能够通过保护保护少数民族语言得以体现：By means of protecting the languages of few speakers, the long tradition and cultural heritage can be maintained in modern time.

③大多数语言学家认为语言的消亡现象对传承文化遗产造成了很大的伤害: The vast majority of  linguists believe that language disappearance is detrimental to the maintenance of cultural legacy.

④语言文化的多元性对于人类文明如同空气对于地球: The language diversity is to human civilization what air is to the earth.

⑤如果国家对于保护少数民族语言有专项的经济援助，语言学研究者就可以努力对正在消亡的语言做大量的记录和研究保护的方式：Linguistic researchers are making efforts to keep bulk of documentations for the disappearing languages.

 反对的意见：

①由于极度耗时耗能，国家投资保护少数民族语言在很多人看来是一种金钱和其他资源的浪费: Being extremely / exceedingly  time-consuming and energy-consuming, national investment in preserving / protecting / safeguarding  the minority languages sounds more of a huge waste of money and other resources to them.

② 国家的经济预算有限，而有待解决的社会问题又是无穷的，日益上涨的民生需求和保护语言文化的经济投入是矛盾的。Due to the limited fiscal budget, ever-rising language protection costs were matched against static or declining social recourses.

背景②：随着现代文化的发展，一些古老的语言和少数民族的语言已经不再是种族和文化身份的象征. With the prosperity of modern culture, some ancient languages and languages of minority groups are no longer symbols of ethnic and cultural identity.

争论焦点③：Recently, a heated debate springs up as to whether it is the duty of the government to allocate  money to saving languages of few speakers from disappearing completely.
