巧辩“so that”从句
中学英语教材从初中到高中都涉及到“so that”从句的教学内容。但是学生还是不能完全掌握“so that”的用法。为了使广大学生能进一步地了解此从句，并逐渐掌握此从句。在不断的教学研究中我总结了以下三点有关学习“so that”从句的方法：
一、了解“so that”从句的两种功能
1、“so that”可以引导目的状语从句，译为“为了，以便”
a. She worked hard so that everything would be ready by 6 o’clock. （她拼命地工作，以便能到六点时把一切准备好。）
b. I had a quick breakfast so that I could the first bus.
（我很快吃了早餐为了能赶上早班车。）
2、“so that”可以引导结果状语从句，译为“以致；因此；结果”
a. He didn’t plan his time well, so that he didn’t finish the work in time.（他没有把时间计划好，结果没有按时完成这项工作。）
b. They had done very well, so that teacher praised them.
（他们做地非常好，因此老师表扬了他们。）
二、了解“so that”引导的目的状语从句与结果状语从句的区别
1、“so that”引导的结果状语从句常被一个逗号与主句隔开，而目的状语从句则不。
2、“so that”引导的目的状语从句中常包含有一个情态动词，而结果状语从句通常没有。
3、目的状语从句可以位于句首，而结果状语从句通常位于句末。
三、“so that”句型的转换
“so that”引导的目的状语从句，可以用表目的的不定式短语来代替。
1. She started off early so that she could reach the worksite in time. →
She started off early so as to reach the worksite in time.
2. He studied hard so that he might not fail in the test. →
  He studied hard in order not to fail in the test.
“so that”引导的结果状语从句，可以用“so…that”引导的从句来代替。
It was cold, so that we had to stop the game. →
It was so cold that we had to stop the game.
