Step 1. Greeting and lead – in
T: Good morning, class!
Ss: Good morning, Miss Zhuo!
T: Last time, we learned the structure of English name, do you
still remember?
Ss: Yes.
T: Now let’s review the structure of English name.
T: (Show a list of English names on the slide.) Here are some
English names we’ve practised yesterday. Now I’d like you to make a
conversation with your partner, talking about the first name and
the last name, using “What’s his/ her first name?” “What’s his/ her
last name?” And pay attention to the use of “his” or “her”. Because
among the names, some are boy names some are girl names. Now please
start!
(After a few minutes, the teacher asks some pairs to show out their
conversations.)
T: Now look at the screen, there is a name —— George Bush. Who is
George Bush?
Ss: 布什总统。
T: Yes. He is in America, I am in China. Suppose I want to talk to
him, what can I do?
Ss: Call him.
T: Good idea. I can call him. But if I want to call him, what’s the
first step?
S1: Know telephone number.
T: Very good. The first name is that I should know his telephone
number. As we know, a telephone number is made up of cardinal
numbers, so today, let’s learn them.
Step 2. The cardinal numbers
The teacher shows many pictures and the numbers on the slide, let
the students read them one by one.
T: Now please turn to page 4, look at part 1a, listen and repeat.
Please read after the tape.
T: Let’s move on to part 1b, listen to the conversation and write
down the telephone number. You will listen twice. At the first
time, just listen, at the second time, please write down the
number.
Step 3. Group work
T: (Show some pictures of telephone, mobile phone and some phone
numbers on the slide.) now look at here, there are some numbers on
the slide, I’d like you to make a conversation with your partner,
talking about the telephone numbers.
(3minutes later, ask some pairs to show out their
conversations.)
Step 4. Listening
T: Now let’s do part 2a. look at the chart. You’ll hear 4
conversations, when listen for the first time, match the names with
the numbers, pay attention to the first three cardinal numbers of
each phone number.
(Then listen and check the answer.)
T: Now let’s listen again. At this time, please complete the phone
numbers.
(Then listen and check the answer.)
Step 5. Survey
T: (Show a chart.) Now let’s make a survey. Please work in a group
of 4, asking about each other’s telephone number. Write them down
in the chart, and choose a student to make a report. Are you clear?
