Step 3    Points
1)  a, an在英语中叫做不定冠词，含有“一（个）”的含义，修饰可数名词的单数。
在辅音因素开头的单词前用a, 在元音因素开头的单词前用an。例如:
a desk    an apple    a student    an idea
half _____ hour        ____ university      ____ honest person
2) the 在英语中叫做定冠词，表示特指，有时用来特指上文已提到过的事物，或指代世界上独一无二的事物，既可以修饰可数名词也可以修饰不可数名词。
Beijing is the capital of China.(中国只有一个首都)
I had a birthday party last night. We all had fun at the party.(前一句已经提到这个晚会)
3) 冠词的使用有很多的特殊情况，需要特别地记忆。例如：
(1)冠词不能与人称代词或所有格连用。This is my book.    (     )
                                 This is a book.     (     )
This is my a book.    (     )
(2)定冠词the 不用于球类运动前。Let’s play football.      （　　）
　　　　　　　　　　　Let’s play the football.    (     )
                      This is a football.        (     )
(3)弹奏某种乐器要使用the. She is playing the piano.       (     )
                 There is a piano in her bedroom. (     )
                 She likes playing violin.       (     )
(4)the 放在姓氏的复数前，表示一家人。the Smiths 史密斯一家
    (5) 形容词的最高级前一般要使用the, 但如果这个最高级词做表语且不与别人进行比较，或前面有物主代词或其它限定词，就不能使用the.
            Millie is the tallest girl in our class.
            We are busiest on Sundays. (做表语且不与他人进行比较)
            He gave me his nicest picture. (形容词前有物主代词)
(6)专有名词前通常不加the 但有些特例需要注意，例如：
the Great Wall    the USA   the UK   the Mid-Autumn Festival
the Summer Palace  
(7) 序数词用在一些不及物动词后或做用作状语时，前面不加the.
   He came first in the last exam, but Tommy came last.
   Work goes first.

Step 4    Ask more able students to write an article about a party they organized, based on the model in Part C1. Remind them about the use of “the”.
      eg:  The Class 1,Grade 8 students held a party for        new students from
              America. We held      party last Sunday. Lots of     students came to     party and we all had a really good time. There was a lot of      food to eat. We had lots of drinks to       music. We all talked to     new students in      English.  We love each other. We become     good friends now.
