Where’s the post office?
Teaching Aims:
a) The Ss should be able to ask for and give directions on the street
b) The Ss should know the usage of There be structure and Where questions
c) The Ss should remember some nouns and prepositions of location
Vocabulary:
post office, park, bank, supermarket, pay phone, street, mail, across from, between, in front of, behind, there, avenue, bridge
Important point:
Is there a supermarket?  Yes, there is. /No, there is not

Difficult point:

Is there a supermarket?  Yes, there is. / No, there is not 

Where is ……?        It is in front of ……

Learn to ask for and give directions in conversations.
Teacher procedures:
Stage1 Revision (7 min)
Review the preposition that the students have learned
Show a picture of Lily’s room
T: I have a little friend, her name is Lily. She is a nice girl, but she always forgets things. She can’t find her shoes. She can’t find her bag. Can you help her?  S: Yes.   T: Where’re her school clothes?          S: They’re under the bed. 
T: Where’s her English book? Can you find it on the desk?
S: No, It’s in her school bag.   
T: Maybe. Thank you .Lily can find her things now, and she can go to school.
Stage2 Presentation (15 min)
Step 1          Show a map with many buildings in it
T: Look at this picture .What place is it?     S: It is a bank.
T: Spell it.                             Ss: B-A-N-K.
Repeat with other new words
post office, restaurant, library, park, supermarket, pay phone, street
Step2
Task 1(1a) ----Match the new words with the places in the picture.
Task 2(1b) ----Listen and circle the places in 1a you hear.

Stage3 Consolidation and drill(15 min)
Step1   Show a map about the rout to Lily’s school.
Teach the prepositions: next to, across from, near, between, in front of, behind
Step2
Task 1(2a) ----Match the sentences with the pictures. Write each number in the box
    Task 1(2b) ----Listen and fill the blanks with the words in the box

Stage4 Practice (8 min)
Practice conversation in a group or in pairs about asking for and giving
directions on the street

Stage5 Homework
Draw a sketch map of your home to school or the way to your partner.
Teaching Aids: ---- recorder, maps about some places.
