Adults think playing sports is good for children because it is fun and helps children keep in shape and even develop their social skills when they play with others However, playing sports can have bad effects on children It may produce feelings of poor self—esteem(自负)or aggressive (好斗的) behavior in some children.According to research on kids and sports,20 million Out of the 40 million kids who play sports in the US say they have been shouted loudly at or called names while playing sports Thus, many children think sports are just too aggressive.
Many researchers believe adults, especially parents and coaches whom children usually admire, are the main cause of too much aggression in children’s sports. They think children copy aggressive adult behavior that is then further strengthened through both good and bad feedback (回馈).Often these adults behave aggressively themselves, sending children the message that
winning is everything.Children are even taught that hurting other players is acceptable,or are pushed to continue playing even when they are injured.
To solve this problem, parents and coaches should act as better examples for children and teach them better values. They should not just cheer when children win or act aggressively Instead, they should teach children to enjoy themselves whether they win or not.It is not necessary to knock oneself out to enjoy sports. If people make Some basic changes, children might learn to enjoy sports again.

Exercise may hold the key to youth, according to a study published recently which showed people who keep fit are up to nine years biologically younger than those who do not.
The findings are the first to show in humans how keeping fit affects the ageing process. The study of 2,401 twins found that a sedentary(惯于久坐的)lifestyle raises the risk of  a range of problems from heart disease to cancer and appears to play a key ro1e in the ageing process.
It all appears to lie in the length of structures called telomeres—which protect the DNA on the chromosomes(染色体),the researchers from King’s College L0nd。n wrote in the Archives of Internal Medicine
Many studies have shown telomeres get shorter over time, suggesting the cells are ageing or dying The study, which extracted a DNA sample from their volunteers, found people who exercised more each week had longer telomeres.
Exercise lowers the risk of a range of problems such as heart disease, diabetes(糖尿病)and cancer, the researchers said “It is not just walking around the block It is really working up a sweat,”said Tim Spector.
a genetic epidemiologist(流行病学家)who led the study,in a telephone interview.
The study found people who exercised vigorously 3 hours each week had longer telomeres and
they were 9 years biologically younger than people who did under 15 minutes  Spector’s team, who also adjusted for body weight, smoking, economic status and physical activity at work.also said moderate exercise for l一1/2 hours each week provided a four—year advantage.
The reason why exercise has this effect is not clear but we believe physical activity somehow
defends against the natural process.

C.Exercise keeps you younger         D.Sitting long leads to cancer

A.Telomeres get shorter as time goes on.
B.Slow walking prevents people getting ill
C.Exercise energetically reduces the chance of diseases.
D.Body weight, smoking and economic status affect people’s health.
6 7.It can be inferred from the passage that——
A.people’s health is decided by their body weight and economic status
B.scientists have known that exercise can’t affect the ageing process at all
C.the more violently one exercises, the healthier one gets
D.the longer telomeres one has,the more slowly one gets old
D
The increase in the price of oil has brought the world to its senses Scientists are searching for a suitable alternative(替换)but so far in vain. They are considering how they can make better use of the two other major fuels, coal and natural gas,but they have found that neither can take the place of oil in their economics. In recent years there has been a growing concern for the environment and coal is not a popular fuel with environmentalists Natural gas,the purest of the three fuels,is also the most limited in supply
The answer would seem to lie in nuclear power stations. They need very little fuel to produce enormous amounts of power and they do not pollute the atmosphere Their dangers, however, are so great and the cost of building them are also high Not only could one accident in a nuclear power station spread as much radioactivity as a thousand Hiroshima atom bombs, but the radioactive waste from these stations is extremely dangerous.
Scientists have recently turned their attention to natural sources of energy:the sun,the sea,the wind and hot springs Of these the sun seems the most promising source for the future Houses have already been built which are heated entirely by solar energy. However, solar energy can only be collected during daylight hours, and in countries where the weather is unreliable,an alter—native heating system has to be included.
However, many scientists are optimistic(乐观的)that new ways of generating large amounts of energy will be successfully developed, but at the same time they fear the consequences.
If the world population goes on increasing at its present rate,we may,in fifty years’time,be burning up so much energy that we would damage the earth’s atmosphere.By raising the temperature of the atmosphere,we could melt the Arctic and Antarctic ice—caps and change the pattern of vegetable and animal life throughout the world——a frightening possibility.
68.The main reason why coal can not replace oil is that
A.it is more expensive than oil    B.it is a heavy pollutant
C.it is unlimited in supply D.it is of no use
69 According to the author, which of the following energy sources is most likely to take the place of oil?
A.The sea and the wind.    B.Coal and gas.
    C.Atomic energy.D.None of the above.
70.What worries scientists most is that we would
  A.bum up、all energy supply
B.find no alternative source of energy
C.reduce the population at a high rate
  D.damage the earth’s atmosphere
71.Which of the following statements is NOT true according to this passage?
A.Scientists have succeeded in finding a suitable alternative.
B.Scientists have tried several sources of energy but none of them is a suitable alternative.
C.Scientists are confident that they will eventually solve the energy problem.
D.Scientists are trying their best to find a potential source of energy.
