《行走中国》作品集的出版，是我十年来摄影的总结。感慨时光的流逝，回望走过的路，也为这不斐的影像收获感到欣慰。

    其实，要说的话，都在作品里了。这样的非决定性瞬间的纪实类作品，是我心灵的映照。

    如果再多说一点，就算是一个画外解释吧。

    我在不断地问自己，为什么十年以来一直坚持这样的拍摄？

    我相信生活是艺术的源泉，我总是向生活学习，从生活的逻辑性和戏剧性中获得启发。

The publication of the works collection, "Life is Beautiful", is a summary to my ten years photograph works. As time goes by, look back to the road I took, I also feel gratified for this images harvest.
    Actually, all I want to say are in the works. These non-decisive instantaneous documentary works just reflected my mind.
    If I need to say some additional words, it should be an explanation outside pictures.
    I unceasingly asked myself, why did I continuously persist in such photographs for these ten years?
    I believe life is the fountain for art. I always learn in life, and obtain the inspiration from the logic and theatrical nature in life.

    十年来坚持带领学生外出旅行、拍摄，这是自我约束与责任并存，放下各种现实世界的理由，全心投入到创作之旅中。只要走出家门拿起相机，我就能找到令我感动的东西并努力把他拍摄出来与所有人分享。我坚持着这个信念，这个信念是对生命力的一种礼赞。

    在行走中思考，用摄影的方法表现人与空间、环境的关系；表现人物的精神状态；在行走中发现平时忽略的生活细节；在行走中锻炼自我，并借助行走的劳顿之苦挤压掉身上世俗世界的空虚。

I continuously led the students to take photographs in travel for ten years. This is a kind of combination of self- restraint and responsibility. I laid down any kind of excuses in life and put the entire heart into the travel of creation. So long as I go out and take up the camera, I can find the thing which makes me moved and share it with all the people. I persist in this faith, and this faith is a praise and admiration to the vitality of life.
    Thinking in walking, I display the relation of people and space; display the spiritual state of people with photographic method. You can discover the neglected life trivia in walking. Exercise in walking and the pain in walking can extrude the emptiness in common customs.

    十年来艺术在表现方式上有着跨越式的发展。电脑改变了人的生活方式，电脑产生出来的幻觉让观影者离现实渐远。网络又使千里之外的人及时面对面，令图片的发布如同原子弹爆炸有着冲击波效应，新媒体的产生带动了观念摄影的兴起，有谁还会去关注那平静的生活？我始终认为，不管是什么类型的艺术作品，若能够引起共鸣，必定有生活的影子，有对生活理解之后的提炼和升华。坚持直面生活是我个人艺术创作的寄托。

In these ten years, art has span a great development in the performance way. Computer changed people's life style. The illusion produced by computer has left the reality far from the viewer gradually while the network brings people face to face from a great distance. The publishing of pictures has the blast effect like the nuclear detonation does. The new media promoted idea photography, so who will pay attention to the tranquil life? I always believe that no matter what type the artistic work is, if it can cause resonance, surely it has the shadow of life and the sublimation from life. Keep to face the life is my principle for art creation.

    近二十年，是中国百年发展最迅猛的阶段。记录中国十年来日新月异的变化对一个艺术家来说，也赶上了一个好时候，必定有它的历史价值。

    十年来我关注的重点一直是人的生存状态。因此当时看似无明确主题的照片，在十年的时间沉淀之后来整体阅读，有了极为鲜明的主题表达。所以在编辑此书时，把两幅时间地点完全不同的作品编排在一起，或者是内容有所关联，或者是形式上有所相似。于是产生了一种新的心灵体验，如同氢气和氧气结合成了水一样，是一种奇妙的感觉。

    行走中国，对于我来说，就是认识美丽的生活。

The recent 20 years are the fast development period of China in the hundred years. Recording the rapid change of China is an opportunity for an artist. It surely has historical value.
    For ten years I always pay attention to the life condition of people. Therefore old pictures looked unclear in that time gained distinct subject expression after ten years accumulation. During the edition of this book, I arranged completely different works together although they were taken at different time and places. But they have some kind of connection in content or style. Thereupon it generated a kind of new mind experience, similar to the chemosynthesis of water by hydrogen and oxygen. It’s such a marvelous feeling.
    To me, a tour in China is an understanding to the enjoyable life.
