RULES OF FILIPINO DOMESTIC WORKERS

菲佣守则

 

HOUSE RULES

1.  No smoking, No alcoholic.

2.  No part-time job (even on holidays).

3.  Employer reserves right for payment in lieu any holidays.

4.  No fixed holiday weekly.

5.  Strictly no stay overnight outside for whatsoever reason.

6.  No advance salary.

7.  Not allow to borrow money from any friends or finance company.

8.  Not allow to lend BIG sum of money to others.

9.  Not allow to disclose employer’s telephone number/address to your friends/relatives in Hong Kong. (Only few of your friends of family in Philippines).

10. Strictly not allow to involve with any pen-pal in HK or oversea.

11. No IDD or collect call.

12. All personal out-going IDD call (using PIN) to be only made outside on your holiday.

13. Keep your image low profile within your employer’s living area.

14. On your holiday returning the house before pm 9:30. (as a courtesy obtain permission prior to leaving).

15. You must cut your hair short prior arrival HK. (Afterwards) if you like to keep a long hair, acceptance length is allowed at shoulder length and must tie up in a pony tail during work.

16. You are strictly NOT allowed to keep your finger nails, toe nails long and paint nails at all time during work or on holidays.

17. No wearing of jewelry, no make-up during work. Only light make-up allowed on your holiday.

18. Only proper and descent clothing allowed during work or on holiday.

19. No definite time for bed (sleep) or wake up(always depends on situation. Usualy recommended before/around 7:00 am)

20. You are NOT allowed to bring friends to employer’s house unless approval granted beforehand.

21. If you need to apply any personal bank services , or telephone card services and will be using employer’s telephone number or address as a correspondence, permission from employer is required.

22. Passport ID card and your contract copy is very important document, never lend to others or act as a guarantor’s purpose. Employer reserves right to check document from time to time.

23. When employer is not home, never leave the house on your own decision for whatsoever excuses or reasons unless approval from employer.

24. Don’t attempt to mix with bad people in HK, they may influence you and jeopardize your job/future.

25. You do not have a fixed room (on sharing basis), therefore only one small piece of hand baggage is allowed. You should minimize and reduce your personal items from time to time. Removal of all unnecessary items.

26. No storing of old books, old magazines, old letters, old clothing and old shoes inside the room.

27. Employer reserves right to check items inside of your shopping bag before leave the house on holiday.

28. Your sleeping area should up-keep clean, tidy, well organized at all time.

29. No drinking (except water), eating inside your sleeping area.

30. You are not allowed to store or keep any of food drink or fruit inside your sleeping area. E.g. candies, cookies, chip etc.

31. If you chose to read or write before sleeping, pls allow yourself not more than 30-40min, otherwise do it on your off day.

32. Please do not sing song during work, reading magazine or reading story book during working time.

33. Be visible and available during work, don’t station inside your room.

34. Always bear in mind for Chinese family’s culture/habit-always great all family members. “Good morning, Thank you, Sorry, I bag your pardon” are required. Never look at employer without any responds.

35. For a good personality, domestic helper always should put on little smiles during work.

36. Employer reserves right to deduct your salaries to pay for any damaged item as a result of your negligence/carelessness.

37. Don’t attempt to use to remove or borrow any of employer’s belongings for any personal use without any permission.

38. All personal consumable items provide on your own and stored after use as instructed.

39. Take good personal hygiene, brushing twice daily, bath daily, shampoo recommended every 2-3 days (brushing and cleaning immediately after wake up).

40. Always HAND-WASHING all your personal items e.g. bra, panties, sock etc. everyday after bathing.

41. No bathing or shower in allowed early in the morning especially on your holiday.

42. For your bathing/shower, time engaged inside the bath room not more than 15-20 min. (including tidy up/ dry up the bath room.)

43. In case you are sick, notify your employer immediately. You are reminded to well look after yourself and health.

44. No afternoon sleep or rest.

45. Never search and open employer’s letter or drawer.

46. Not allowed to turn on TV, VCR, HI-FI, CD or computer for any personal enjoyment.

47. Good telephone manners to drop/ record down message clearly for employer.

48. Keep away from any choosy/selective eating habit ( Never waste any of food).

49. For any not finished excess food items, should store and to be able to keep it for next meal.

50. Should be able to check and aware of running out any of the home utilities, and notify employer ( Not at last moment). Pay attention to all electrical appliances, keep checking all the plugs or sockets, ENSURE SAFETY.

51. Wait for instruction during dinner time especially when there are guests.

52. Don’t spend too much time during your meals ( lunch or dinner).

53. To be friendly and service professionally to all employer’s guests. And to be able to look after in-house guest nicely. Willing to do extra work and ready to stay very late when necessary.

54. Never compare your present employer and old employer on the working condition, environment or benefits.

55. Pay attention for any object , ensure to remember it or safe kept it. It may be important to your employer.

56. You should be able to take care of the children, playing with them patiently (not just ask to see TV program.)

57. You should be always aware the children’s health and report to the employer immediately if the children are ill or injured.

58. You should be able to supervise children for homework and eating properly.

59. Do not wear any glove for generally cleaning e.g. washing dish, washing clothes etc. except handing any strong corrosive chemical items.

60. Dangerous foods-medicine, chemical solution knife, must be kept away from children. Never leave children unattended.

61. NEVER OPEN DOOR FOR ANY STRANGERS for any reason e.g. gift delivery, etc. and do not give an information of your employer family to any stranger or any unidentified telephone call.

62. From a good habit to double check door locked, windows closed, stove off, electrical appliance safe BEFORE LEAVING the house or going to sleep.

63. To be able to help employer to SAVE MONEY on all resources such as electricity, gas, material, water, food and toilet paper etc.

64. Should spend a short REASONABLE TIME to cleaning toilets, cleaning dishes, cleaning kitchen with a high standard cleanliness.

65. Make sure no hard objects , napkins, hair throw into the sink or toilet bowl which may cause block of drainage.

66. Polish and clean the shoes regularly ( method should follow employer’s way).

67. You may consume bread, jam, better, tea or coffee for your breakfast ( simple and fast type). When consuming soft drink, chocolate, milk pls let employer knows.

68. You should be able to perform your homework knowledgeably, if you don’t please consult employer. Below is some SUGGESTIONS:

1)  Color fabrics washed separately.

2)  Wool, soft fabrics, silk hand wash.

3)  Dirt to be removed by hand before putting in machine.

4)  Use wash machine when it is full wash.

5)  Be aware of different kind of material when ironing.

6)  Remember to separate/distinguish clothing for each of the family members.

69. You should draw or plan a time-table on your work for daily, weekly or monthly work and that you may schedule for next day and be able to prioritize your job systematically.

70. Revise and review the housework before sleeping, it helps to improve the quality of your work efficiently and effectively.

71. Must remember all the teachings, coaching and instructions carefully. Do not repeat mistakes. Should know how to admit mistakes and correct mistakes immediately.

72. Enjoy your work by accepting Chinese way of living e.g. drink Chinese tea, eat Chinese food, remember and show interest of Chinese way of cooking, take note when necessary.

73. Being a qualified domestic helper, you must be required as following:

1) Honest- never lie

2) Loyal

3) Not being selfish

4) Respect employer- No argument

5) Perform diligently to meet employer’s requirement

6) Have kind consideration for employer.

7) Take criticism-never express annoyance, impatient attitude toward command, just listen and follow.

8) Ready and willing to scarify your benefit when required

9) Don’t take pride and bias personally

10) To love and involved to employer’s family.

11) No gossip

12) Clean your hand when ever you finish cleaning, or attend to clean baby bottles and other baby needs.

13) Never rest or sit on Employer’s bed or sofa.

74. Additional Rules:

   1) Washing time, not in peak time

   2) Keep receipt

   3) Don’t pour dirty water in kitchen sink, and separate basin, knives, chopping board

 

Guidelines of cleaning schedules

1. Basically you must wash hand with soap after all kinds of cleaning job, come back from outside, toilet visit, and before attending to the children.

2. Cleaning frequencies

All floor:  once daily

Fridge + door:  once in 2 weeks

All tables and chairs top:  once daily

Windows:  once a month

Kitchen stove and wall:  clean every night after cooking

Kitchen ventilator + fan :  once in a month of once in two weeks

Toilet bowl:  clean everyday

Bathing room:  clean everyday night after bathing

Shoes polish:  all black shoes twice a week, others once two days

Washing machine:  rinse with water once a month

Change bed clothes:  once in ten days

Make the bed: every morning and noon after getting up

Clean and tidy up the internal part of all closet and cabinets:  once in half year time Ironing clothes: before put into the closet.

3. Caring for children:

a. The priority must be given to taking care of the children rather than domestic work when no employer at home.

b. Must keep employer informed of any injury of irregularities of the children and even if ever they fall down.

4. Do not mix the cleaning cloth:

Use kitchen cloth for kitchen cleaning, dish cloth only washing dishes, cleaning cloth for cleaning table top and furniture, toilet cloth for toilet bowl. And only wash the kitchen cleaning cloth in the kitchen sink, the other cleaning cloth must be washed in the cleaning basin.
