Carrie: What is there, a cash prize?

Cash prize: 现金奖

Stanford: My grandmother gives everyone in the

family their inheritance when they get married.

Inheritance: 遗产

Married: 在美国绝大部分州仍然不承认同性恋婚姻，所以

marriage 通常是指男女的结合。

Carrie: She doesn't know you're gay?

Stanford: She doesn't believe in gay.

Believe: 相信。I believe you. (我相信你说的话)。

Believe it or not: 信不信由你。

Believe me, 相信我（我说的都是实话）。

Seeing is believing: 眼见为实。

Believe in

1. 相信…的存在

Do you believe in God? 你相信有上帝吗？

I believe in ghosts. 我相信有鬼神的存在。

2. 相信…的价值 (价值观)

I believe in letting children make their own

mistakes. (我相信让孩子犯错误对他们有益处)

I don’t believe in marriage. （我不相信婚姻）--我的价值观不认可婚姻，。

3. 信任，信赖 (某人)，对（某人）有信心

I believe in you. You will have a bright future.

(我对你有信心，我相信你,你的前途将会非常光明)

You should believe in yourself.

（你得先对自己有信心，相信自己）

Carrie: Really? That’s funny.

Big doesn't believe in marriage.

Maybe you should propose to me and we'll all

live happily ever after.

Not believe in marriage (婚姻只不过是一张纸而已，人为的社会规范，没有实际的意义)

Propose to someone: 像某人求婚

Live happily ever after: 从此过上了幸福快乐的生活。

(你有结婚的需要，我有没法和我那位结婚的无奈，我们两个可以一拍即合，凑一块，绝配。)

Stanford: You really do want it all.
什么都想要。

Carrie: I don't know. Maybe nobody gets it all.

没有人是什么都可以得到的。

(天下没有那么十全十美的事情）

Stanford: Though, you do have a point.

We're best friends, we make each other laugh...

Though: but,

You do have a point. (你说的很有道理啊)。

共同点好多啊，而且是最好的朋友。

Carrie: We both sleep with men!

Stanford: you know, this is not a bad idea at all.

Carrie: Well, Actually, I was kidding.

Stanford: I'm not. Think about it. Who else would keep you in expensive shoes and encourage you to cheat?

Cheat: 出轨，背叛

He cheated on me. 他背叛了我。（他背着我偷情）

Carrie: Now you're talking!

Now you are talking 表示你特别同意某人的建议。

“你这话说对了，太对了，合我意。”
